  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I used to teach a bible study at a juvenile detention facility. The boys would frequently ask, "What church should I go to?"

It was a hard question to answer. I would tell them that almost any church would take one look at them and ship them off to youth group where they would have pizza and go bowling. They might well ask, "What has this to do with Jesus".

I would suggest that when they visited a church that they should look for anyone who was helping the elderly or otherwise concerned for others. If they could see anyone who clearly demonstrated the love and light of Christ, that it might be a good idea to approach that person and ask them to help teach you how to know Jesus as well as they did.

Another thing to look for is if there is an emphasis on personal bible study. This often can be identified by the widespread use of bible tools like esword, a concordance, The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, Vines dictionary, etc.

One question to ask is "Can this church help me to grow to be more like Jesus (Eph 4)?"

Our pastor always says we are to grow into the best version of our Christian self. He also believes teaching prayer is extremely important. Too many stop praying because they do not know how or why.

There's a guy in our church involved in prison ministry, when covid permits and apart from the visiting he also tries to find churches willing to have exoffenders attending them.
He or another visitor will if asked, take the ex prisoner to the church and introduce him to the minister.

If you're so minded pray for these guys, when we back slide it's a few extra beers, when they back slide it's drugs and crime to pay for it and often back inside.

It is nice to hear about those who reach out to help young people and older people also, who never had the privilege to learn about our Lord Jesus Christ. As a former youth worker with those young ones and their families in troublesome conditions, I always sought to help them think upon our God and His love for mankind in sending His Son to redeem us and bless us; and thus find a good path forward.
