  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Church Dilemma

Somebody please help me. I just moved to a new town and started going
to a church that has service on Saturdays. Everything was going well
until I decided to go to church hopping and ended going to a church on
Sunday. Now I go to both churches every week. It isn't so bad but now
I'm somewhat involved in both churches for studies and music practice.
Both are fine churches but I feel like I'm cheating on the churches and
if someone from either church knew I wouldn't know what would happen.
Has anyone else been in the problem or give me any advice? I feel like
I'm in a bad sitcom. :sigh:

Ask for God's guidance on which church he wants you to serve at. You seem like the type of person who is a treasure to whatever church you go to (you're involved...not just warming a pew). I'm sure that God will lead you to the church where he needs you most. :)

The church I go on Saturday has beliefs that if I go to church on Sunday that it's a sin. Their belieft may have some validity but I'm not sure yet. It's good to hear some encouragement from you guys and that I'm not a weirdo for going to church on Sat and Sun. :)
That sounds fishy to me.

I tried going to a particular church once many years ago. The surmon was filled with talk against other churches. Because of that surmon, I never returned to that church. A few months later I learned that that church I attended was a cult.

I'm not saying that your Saturday fellowship is a cult, but I'm not comfortable with the fact that they consider Sunday services are a sin. There is no where in the Bible I can think of that states that we cannot worship on Sunday, nor any other day of the week.

Other than that, I see no reason why you cannot attend two or more churches. Just don't spread your resources too thinly.

Pray really hard and do some soul and scripture searching for yourself. Based on God's guidance and directions answer these questions:
Which church helps me to feel more in tune and in touch with God?
Which church seems to be more spiritually based?
What are the beliefs that each church holds and what do I agree and dissagree with?
And most importantly: Which church is God leading me to?
I'm sure there are many other questions that you could ask, but the key thing is that you follow God's will and do what will bring you closer to Him. Who knows, it might be God's will for you to be at both for a little while longer, just keep praying and then listen for that still small voice to give you an answer. I'm praying for you.
God Bless

At first I would have echoed Hands & Feet, get involved with as many ministries as you can handle without getting burnt out. When you say a church says it's sinful to worship on ANY day, I recommend getting out of that church. God wants you to worship Him ALL THE TIME. If you can find Scripture that denies this, then we might have a different discussion.
