Church Afghan project

I want to get the ladies of my church who crochet to make a granny square and give it to me. I will stictch each square together to make an afghan. The afghan will then be auctioned as a fund raiser. It will be called Heart of Family Afghan.

Each crocheter can make any type of 12 inch square. I have restricted them to the type and colors of yarn. They can use Red Heart Soft Navy and/or Aran. I'm sure I'll get some that are one color and some that are two colors. I'll probably border them in burgandy.

Has anybody tried something like this before and can share any words of wisdom with me?

i havent, nor do i know anyone who has, but i think this is a very neat idea!!

have heard of projects like this, especially with quilts...bet you can find lot's on the net...
