Haha, bribery! No joke. I'm reading The Orthodox Church by Bishop T. Ware and he admits the councils were subject to heavy bribery "because the issue was so important." You can see this back and forth fight continue for years and years, whoever was in charge (heretic or orthodox Christian) the controversy was decided in their favour.
