We do celebrate it, but it's not a "big deal". And my husband and I decided long ago that we would never go into debt over christmas. I think that is just soo wrong. So our gift giving is minimal.

Our extended family(my brothers/sisters nieces and nephews) are having a get together the weekend before christmas this year which is replacing our annual Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas get together. We are not exchanging gifts(although I'm sure everyone will bring presents for mom and dad anyway!) this year, which is good because of how big our family is.

I don't think it's a problem to celebrate Christmas, but I do have a problem with christians making a huge deal out of it--like going into debt over presents and such. We should all realize that it's a good time to remember our Lord's birth. However, I believe it's very telling that God chose not to reveal to us the exact date of Jesus' birth. We have only a vague idea when it is--why?--because the date is not important, His life and death are much more important.

anyway, that's my view.....

I guess i didn't use scriptures...sorry.....

Hi there,

Just wondered what peoples views were on it? Should Christians celebrate it or not? Please use Scripture to back your point up!

Is Christmas pharasaical?

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with it, as long as it is about remembering Christ's birth and not about greediness and presents. But I think it is a wonderful thing to celebrate, and I don't think there is anything wrong with enjoying it.

I don't have any scriptural references either, but I found this article that addresses Scriptures that seem to state that we shouldn't engage in false religious practices or holidays.

{I just found this site and I found MANY helpful articles there! Check it out!}
