With the Holiday Season coming up, what are some of your favorite Christmas specials (animated or live action). They can be special made for TV programs or episodes of shows.
Mine include:
"Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" - the very first half-hour episode of the "Simpsons". It also introduces us to many characters from the show. It shows what Homer will do to help the family out during the holidays. Even though it may look a bit primitive by today's standards, it's still an enjoyable episode.
"A Garfield Christmas" - Here we get to see Jon Arbuckle's extended family (outside of the comics). The ending is sweet when Garfield presents Jon's grandmother with old love letters from her husband as a gift.
"The Father Son and JC" (King of the Hill) - This espisode has Jimmy Carter making a guest appearance as part of his service with Habitat for Humanity. He gets Hank and his father Cotton to reconcile over Christmas.
"A Christmas Plotz/Little Drummer Warners" (Animaniacs) - The first segment is a parody of Dickens' A Christmas Carol where the Warners portray the three ghosts and CEO Mr. Plotz plays the role of Scrooge. A running gag seems to be fruitcakes (Plotz hates them). The second segment features the Warners enacting the Nativity. It actually does it in good taste. There's no mockery of Christ/religion. The Drummer Boy song turns into a jazz session with the animals playing instruments as well.
