  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was gifted with some cheese boxes today. Another lady got a dozen also. She intends to make sewing boxes, toy boxes, etc. out of hers. I am beginning a wood burning hobby so I plan to burn designs & pictures onto mine & stain them with woodstain. I will give these as gifts. I have also decopauged one & it turned out quite nice. You can cover them with batting & cloth, etc. If you can paint - you can do worlds of things with them. I got these free today - before I have paid $2.50 to $3.00 each for them.

This is early???? I've been working of Christmas gifts since April -- and that is late for me!

Here's a quickie gift idea for you. If you know anyone who likes to use stemwear at parties you can make glass markers. Head to the craft store and find "stemwear rings" thin wire type rings with a catch on one end. Then find some pretty little beads (6mm or less usually works best) and maybe some charms. Place 2 matching beads, a charm then 2 more beads like the first ones. Repeat on each ring for as many as you want in a set, changing the charms or the bead colors.

I am making a few knitted short scarves (neck warmers really) and hats.

I make fudge to give out too. I use the recipie on the back of the marshmellow cream jars.

Two years ago I made the cutest christmas decorations and gave them out. I took an old deck of cards that had missing cards and painted both sides of the card with craft paint. I used beige on one side and red on the other.

Then I took more of the cards and cut out a hat flap and the shape of a beard for a "Santa". I used brads for eyes, and some peach paint for a face and some pink for the nose and cheeks.

I used ribbon on the top of them but made the ribbon big enough that the card could go on a tree or even a door knob.

I don't have a pattern for this. I just used scrap cardstock or playing cards to cut shapes until I found one I liked then copied it over and over for the other ones.

I also made some other ones that didn't use "Santa" and painted them a moddled red/green/gold and then printed out a nice saying from my computer and framed it with scrapbooking frames I found. (frames you put negatives in for slide shows).

You can go to galleriapangea, to have a look. They have so many interesting things, such as beautiful silver bracelets and earrings, Nuo masks, wooden dolls, handmade batik and tie dying, and the things especially come from China, like the black pottery, bamboo covered porcelain, and hand puppets, Peking Opera masks. All the things are purely handmade.

Someone in another part of CF gave me the idea of buying gifts from monestaries so that the profits go toward increasing Christian growth and missionary work.

I found a place that sells specialty coffee and another place that has hand made scented soaps and real bees wax candles. I think that with my neck warmers and hats I will give these things.

I attended a class on making artist's books (or altered books) and loved it. So plan to make some for gifts. There are so many ways of doing them. You can take an old hard back children's picture book, cover it with fabric and all sorts of little items, photos, little decorations, scraps, lace etc. Or use an old ordinary book, glue pages together and cover them also.

Does anyone have any good ideas for Christmas crafts for gifts I know it's early, but we have a large family and I want to start early this year.

Well buy a big turkey for Thanksgiving and save the turkey breast bone whole. Wash it and let it dry out..then paint it red...get you some yarn and some miniature reindeer; hook the yarn up as harnesses and glue the ends to the sleigh. Next glue those miniature packages on the back of the sleigh and add santa in the fron. Voila you have your own santa and reindeer sleigh...oh get a piece of styrofoam from a craft shops to cut a groove into to stand the sleigh in.

 Jingle bells....
