  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I attended a muslim wedding this weekend. As I sat there looking around at all these women with their hair covered and some of them with their faces covered too, listening to them speak in a foreign language and talk about praising the almighty Alla, I was completely struck. Sitting there listening to them talk about Mohammed, I almost wanted to cover my ears, but instead I sat silently and prayed for their conversion to Christ. Sadly I couldn't help but think about the warnings to the tsunami aid workers in Muslim countries not to identify themselves as Christians for fear of being killed.

In any event, my mind then drifted to CF and I thought about all the hurtful things I've seen written on this forum by Christians to Christians, and it made me so so sad. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and it is such a wonderful gift to have Him! I couldn't help but think of how much different the interaction between a hard headed Protestant and a hard headed Catholic would be had they been sitting next to each other at the wedding. Interesting to think about.

That is indeed food for thought. A Baptist and a Catholic might act very different together in Iran than they would in Alabama.

Amen. The arguing is is old and tiresome. I wish we could all just exhort one another in love and discuss doctrine peacfully.

Props to the mods though, sometimes we fail to realize what they do. "Blessed are the peacemakers" says Christ, and without the mods being in that role this place would be nuts. It saddens me that we have to be kept in check though, we should know better.

:amen:

We should just share our convictions, not push them on other Christians of other denominations. Sharing, like such as "I believe (this and that) because...." "I discovered while reading (this and that book/document) that....."

I look at the world and the misery out there, the millions of people who have not committed their life to Christ and who are living in sin (there are plenty around me) and I wonder why we Christians argue with each other the way we do? Like Steve Green sings "People need the Lord". Now let's focus on that.
