• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I'm doing good I have eleven days now. I broke down in tears yesterday over my sin. Why would GOD spare a wretched worthless sinner like me. Blessed to be saved. I had four years sober in AA but have been relapsing for 2.5 years but now I haven't been having cravings. What a relief I hope they stay away I just got to the point were I told GOD I can't do it I can't fix me please help me. And HE has been thank you JESUS.

That is good news indeed.
I was told in early recovery that whenever I get a craving, to ask myself what it is that I am afraid of. In many cases it can be as subtle as feeling a bit bored and fearing a lack of purpose, or not enough distraction, etc. Whatever it is, we need to learn how to cope with it without picking up that first drink. I know you already know this. I am just reminding you.
Have you got a sponsor? or at least a phone number of an AA member you can ask how to deal with certain things. Newcomers, mostly 0-2 yrs in recovery, lack many coping skills. Before AA, our main coping skill was avoidance via oblivion. You have been around enough to know that new ways to face our fears is required if we want any chance at all. Chapter 5 of the AA book is about putting our faith into action.

Remember, Jesus knows all the answers. Sometimes we have to learn these answers the hard way (tough love) for them to stick. So don't think you have been abandoned. Recovery is not easy, but Jesus knows you can handle it.
If recovery was easy, everybody would be doing it.
The doorway is narrow.
One day at a time.
God bless you.
