  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've been searching for Christian bands who sound Synthpop/New Wave. Does anybody know some bands that sound like 80s bands, like: Depeche Mode, New Order, the Smiths, Talking Heads, Gary Numan, Soft Cell. I've listened to some Joy Electric, but didn't really like it. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

If you're looking for Christian, you won't find a great deal of synthpop that Ronnie Martin (aka joy electric) is not associated with. I'm curious as to what you've heard from him, because he's changed a great deal over his career, and you may like a current release more than his early stuff, vice versa.

The only other Christian synthpop I know of is Ronnie's lable, plastiqmusiq, and flamingfish.com, which also has a great deal of industrial stuff. But, on the secular side of things, definitely look into kraftwerk, who (I believe) was a big influence on many of the bands you mentioned. Minimum-Maximum, their newest CD (a live two-disc set) blows all the studio editions of the songs out of the water. The Faint is also a pretty big group right now, and they're classified as synthpop, but I don't know if that's completely accurate.

Quickflight (More New wawe/new romantic-style)

Some Christian synthpop bands you can check out are: The Echoing Green, Painted Orange, Rubicon 7, Red Sector 1, Norway or Christian influence synthpop bands Intuition and Leaidorias (maybe spelled wrong).
