None for me, thanks. I've tried to listen to it, but for the most part all I hear is predictable, rehashed top-40 sounding music. The Christian record labels are trying to appeal to consumers by offering music that sounds similar to popular secular artists, which makes good business sense, but I'd rather hear something totally original, and it's hard to find that within the Christian music scene.

Huh? What are you going on about? I'm saying I'm tired of hearing the same themes over and over again in Christian music. There's very little exploration of new territory, most of what I hear is just the same old themes with slightly different words. Few ever really go deep and explore other issues ...

I think you are misunderstanding Axver, he is talking about CCM in general, not individuals' opinions.

theres a few good ones out there.
but if you're into mainstream stuff, its gonna sound like everything else.

hunt a little deeper and you might find stavesacre, pillar, zao, advocate... good hard christian rock!

depends what u think rock is though. if switchfoot and jars of clay (two of the better pop bands) is your idea of rock, then maybe don't bother hunting deeper, you won't find much!

Yes, Blackwasp's right. I am expressing my disappointment with CCM because a lot of it is a much of a muchness. The artists rarely explore new ideas and themes and instead stick to tried, 'safe' formulas, and don't push the envelope. Creativity seems to be dead - or very rare - in CCM from my perspective. I'm much happier listening to secular music. At least you can find people singing about a wide range of topics while experimenting with their instruments there.

christian music is ten times better than the secular world, maybe the secular world has better musicians, but at least in the christian world most everything is uplifting and talking about my savior Jesus Christ. and if we are complaining that too many songs talk about Christ, I never knew praising God could get old.

There are many songs in the secular market that talk about Christ, so I'm assuming that you say that CCM glorifies Christ, which is arguable considering much of it is plagued with poor theology and repetitive themes...and then there are the songs that have no point, but that are "just for fun". If we were arguing praise music or hymns against secular music, you could use your argument of praising God. However, you must first prove that Christian entertainment glorifies God. I think He would be appalled by the lack of enthusiasm by CCM artists to leave their bubble and embrace the world.

Thank God for grace!

I just haven't been able to get in to any Christian music. I have heard the argument before about focusing on the message instead of the music; but ya know what? If the music isn't intresting the song isn't going to hold my attention and I'm just going to miss out on the message anyways. Besides, isn't music supposed to be about the music? If I want to hear a CD with a message I'd rather hear it done as a spoken word piece.

Sorry for the late entry. No one ever mentions Disciple or GS Megaphone. I wonder if that's because they're not widely known or if I've only heard the one or two good songs that they have?

Anyway, they strike me as bands pushing new territory, thematically at least.
