  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Christian high school dance

I want your opinion. . .

Do you think it is wise to combine Christian music and school dances?  A Christian group I'm part of is planning a dance, and I have a few worries about it.  I think it's kinda risky, b/c high school dances are known for being anything but God-glorifying.  Typically the music is secular and sensual, girls dress immodestly and some of the "dancing" makes me wanna gag!   I can imagine a different kind of dance, I wanna expose my school to Christian music, but I still don't know. . . There is an outreach my y-group is doing this spring that our group should help out with, should we drop the dance idea and focus on the outreach, or do you think the dance is a good idea?

Lemme know what you think. Thanks!

i've been to a few clubs where people dance, and it is not god glorifying at all. modern dance is all about lust and it's perverse, really. i don't think any groups should host a dance. my school doesn't ave dances, so instead of proms and holiday dances we have banquets with chamber music and everyone gets dressed up and it's fun. :) if you really want to dance, have lots of chaperones and make sure people don't get too involved with each other.
