I just wanted to share my ministry with everyone.

I have been working in comedy for the past few years at such nationwide venues as the Hollywood Improv, Ice House, & Funnybones to name a few.

Now that the credits are out of the way....

I had a huge change in heart and momentum this year and I've decided [or it was decided for me] to go full time in ministry with my comedy. I'm currently working on a new show for 2011-2012 that I plan to take on tour.

I have been work shopping the show in VA, MD, NC, SC areas before taking it on the road next year. If you would be interested in hosting me at your Church, just contact me at my website or by phone.

Some clips of the 2011-2012 show, 'Christian Squared' are here: christianleelive_com > media tab.

And please visit christianleelive_com blog to see a description of the show, as well as 'What People are Saying'.

Thanks for letting me share my ministry on this forum. I've enjoyed MANY of your threads. Especially the ones on accountability. Keep up the good work!!

Most "Christian comedy" is awful. On the one hand, you have Mike Warnke, who ripped off most of his act from Bill Cosby and used it as a hook to get people to hear his preaching (which, in retail, is known as "bait and switch" and is considered to be dishonest), which was bad enough, but then come to find out that his testimony was made up and his theology was/is awful.

Then, there's Steve Geyer, who was moderately funny, but wasn't particularly "Christian".

I was a professional musician for twenty years. I still do a little studio work now and then and have been known to sit in with various bands as they come through town.

When I first got saved, I wrestled with the idea of whether I should continue to play secular music or play only Gospel music. After much study, prayer, and counsel, I reached the conclusion that while there was some secular music I should not play, that didn't mean I had to give up secular music altogether.

I played with Christian artists, such as Steve Camp, Rick Cua, and Margaret Becker, but also continued to play with the secular artists I had worked with, such as Steve Forbert, Maria Muldaur, Earl Thomas Conley, Eddie Raven and others.

My point isn't to drop names, but just to point out that being in secular entertainment and being a Christian are not mutually exclusive.

Rather than shooting for "Christian comedy", I would just consider making clean, family oriented comedy. I haven't heard all of Brian Regan's act, but I know that when they play his clips on Wretched, I'm always struck by how funny he is, but how clean he remains.
