Glen Kaiser and Darrell Mansfield are the artists you are looking for. They also teamed up for a tribute album full of Blind Willie Johnson tunes besides other great blues gospel songs. I believe you can still get ahold of their CD ' Trimmed and Burnin '. Yes that's how it's spelled on the cover.

I'm a Minister as well as being a blues singer(I'm a full time entertainer these past 17-18 yrs). I enjoy singing about the human condition... and it's always great to find (or write) a bluesy tune with a Christian message. There are many. Some of my favs are Dry Bones - The Delta Rhythm Boys, anything by Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers (pretty bluesy), John the Revelator - Son House, Delbert McClinton - Sending Me Angels, as well as many tunes by Solomom Burke. Also, there are a lot of Christian instrument blues types... hard to find but often worth the searching!

I hope '09 brings you many great tunes filled with Him!

Peace & Harmony,
J. Slick aka Rev J. Ferguson

ps: Here's one I wrote a while back... hope it blesses you.

I know absolutely nothing about blues (and I'm pretty ignorant of music in general), but you might be interested in Dion DiMucci who has done a couple blues albums, especially his song "The Thunderer", a song about Jerome (340-420) probably the greatest biblical scholar of the early church outside the New Testament.

It is on his album "Son of Skip James", which came out in November 2007
