Hello,

Not everything here is going to fit Baptist theology so I hope you don't mind me posting, but my rabbi spent a couple of years going through a sermon series on finding the Messiah in the Torah from a Messianic Jewish viewpoint and showing that it is all about him. We have those sermons posted online:

Amazing, will start to listen to them this evening.

I love Messianic Jews, and I enjoy listening to their sermons. They have great background of the OT and understanding of so many small details that just makes the NT illuminate so much more.

We know that Christ is the promised seed of the woman in Gen. 3:15. He is the lamb that God killed to make skin clothing for Adam and Eve in Gen. 3:21. That clothing was a picture of the first substitute to shed blood in the place of sinners and a picture of being clothed in the righteousness of Christ. Noah's ark is also a picture of Christ where the wrath of God fell on all who were outside of the ark but not one drop fell on those in the ark. The ark is Christ.

Of course Joseph is a beautiful picture of Christ and He is in many other pictures just in the book of Genesis.

Genesis chapter 24.
One of my favorite portions of Scripture. The story of Abraham sending His servent (in the role of the Holy Spirit) to find a wife for Isaac.
Not only a type and shadow of Christ. but the very story of salvation

The ark is Christ.
.

This is a point that I tried to make several months ago. On resurection morning the deciples looked into the empty tomb and saw 2 angels, one at the head and one at the foot of where Christ was laid. I perfect image of the Ark.

There's an excellent book on this. You can look at it here but if you wanted to buy it you'll be better off ordering it from your country's Amazon :)

Who are you addressing or are you addressing the subject?
It is not clear to me if you post was in responce to a post.

I believe Noah's ark was also a type/shadow of a pre-tribulation rapture.
A bit off topic and I request a pass on that this one time.

And I believe this also lends credibility to my post on another thread regarding who killed Christ.

Can we get a post going with all of the examples of Christ in OT, either by foreshadow (Abraham sacrificing his son) or by actually appearing (Daniels Fiery Furnace)

  • Christ is the Seed of woman and in Genesis 3:15 we are told He will one day crush Satan.
  • In Exodus we find the story of the Passover Lamb, and Christ is the sacrificial Lamb given for us.

The subject/OP. Sorry if it wasn't clear.

Perhaps you are familiar with a book I read many years ago but cannot find it anywhere. The title was "Light Through and Eastern Window".

I would love to find a copy of it.

How do we know the animal slain to make skin clothing for Adam and Eve was a lamb?

Because Christ is called the Lamb of God. He is the Passover lamb and the lamb in all of the sacrifices. While we are not told that it was a lamb we can rightly surmise that it was.

Also when Abel brought his sacrifice in Gen. 4:4 we are told that he brought the firstlings of his flock. We are also told in verse 2 that Abel was a keeper of sheep. Abel brought the proper sacrifice as was apparently taught him by his father Adam.

Easier to catch than a bear.

In Leviticus we read of the high priests making sacrifices for the people, and Christ has become our High Priest, making the perfect sacrifice to atone for our sins.

In Deuteronomy Moses prophesied of a prophet who would come that would be greater than Himself. Jesus is that Great Prophet.
