  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My first experience with the Holy Spirit happened, of all places, in a bathtub. After a grueling days work I was soaking in a hot tub of water. I was listening to 3rd Day's Chronology CD (yuppers, I'm a Gomer) and reading Lee Strobel's 'A Case for Christ' when the song 'Thief' came on. The song is bout the Crucification of Christ from the thief's perspective. I'd listened to it before but it never 'touched me'. This time I started to listen. I set the book down and just started to cry. My first thought was "Joe, old boy, you've finally slipped the mental clutch. The [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] of the mind is shot!" After sitting there and crying for a minute or 3 I just started praising God for all He had done for me. I didn't pray, just kept saying 'Thank you!!" I stayed in there long enough to have to refill the tub-twice. When I finally got out my wife said "I'd started to wonder if you had drowned." Then she saw the tears (yes, I was still teary eyed) and I told her what had happened. She was ecstatic. I had only been saved a couple of weeks (06/18/07) so this was really dramatic for me. Thief is now one of my favorite songs. Is anyone surprised?

I had always wondered when someone told me about something like this. I'd just think to my self "Oooookaaaayyy, here we go. Another 'visitation'." I have found that the taste of crow isn't as bad as I've heard. Especially if it's served by the hand of God.

This is only the first. I've been 'visited' by the Spirit 2 more times, once last Sunday at church, but those are for another thread if anyone actually wants to hear it.;)

May God continue to bless us all!
