The night before last Chris Matthews was interviewing Tom Delay about the latest debate among the Republican candidates. He made the case that CNN made them out to be a bunch of archiac Neanderthals with his questions about their faith/values and the irrelevancy of their answers to a Presidential campaign.

Normally as sharp as a razor, Matthews swung and missed enough times to strike out for a whole baseball team.

Overtly expressing faith/values, including creationism, awakened the slumbering Evangelical voters, which resulted in twice electing George W. Bush President of the United States, not to mention many others to lesser elected offices in the House and Senate.

More surprizing, Matthews missed the point of the CNN/Sojourners interview of the top three Democratic Candidates for President on their faith/values. Long silent about them, if they had them (except for Rev. Martin Luther King and the titles of "Rev." before Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton) the Dems have finally taken a page out of the Republican play book. They want the Christian vote this election season!

Not surprizing at all, Chris Matthews pointed out Huckabee's answer on creation and evolution as the prime example of the Neanderthal-irrelevant mentality of the Republicans and the religious right. But John Edwards, Democratic candidate, gave the same answer on CNN, and Barack Obama directly implied that he agreed. ...not that Chris is bias against Republicans! No, not at all.
