  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Choosing a college

I am trying to choose a college and can not seem to settle on one. My choice have been between Tennessee Temple, Lee, Liberty, and Hyles Anderson. I am looking for something where I can take online Biblical classes. I was thinking either Lee or Hyles Anderson because they both have certificate programs where you don't have to take any extra non-biblical or ministry courses. I don't feel like I need a full degree, just wanting to do some ministry work, maybe children and teen ministry...and wanting to really study the Bible.

I have basically been accepted at Liberty, Lee, and Tennessee Temple and told I can register for fall courses as soon as they get me all signed up. All have financial aid to cover costs. I have been praying asking The Lord where He wants me to go and what He wants me to do, yet I still don't know for sure. I want to know I am doing what the Lord wants me to do and not just what I want. How do you know for sure which He would want you to do?

I do not want to choose based on which is more popular, which is more accredited, which is said to be a better program, etc. or by which has a certificate program so I can just study Bible and ministry. I want to know how to know which The Lord would want me to do.

Also Hyles Anderson only seems to have scholarships for kids who's parents are ministers or who's church will give them money for college, so I am thinking maybe not there since I will have to have financial aid.

So Hyles Anderson is no longer an option. I have tried to email a couple of people to get a question answered and could not get a reply after a couple weeks. So I went to chat and found out there is no financial assistance at all for online students. That along with lack of communication makes me not want to go there.
So how do I know which of the other 3 The Lord is wanting me to go to?

That's too bad.
Sorry you didn't get an answer back in July; I hope your decision has become clearer since.

I have found through life experience that when it comes to career-related decisions, God tends to leave that up to me. Very frustrating! I can hear Him throughout the day on little things; but the large ones, even with a lot of prayer, seem more a matter of choice than obedience.

We are creative beings, and love a good exploration. If we have too many mandates there is not much to motivate us in life. There is joy and fulfillment in pursuing a goal.
I would guess that if you hear nothing, then He has no warnings against your current choices.

Are you studying now that it's September?
