The TV cartoon version
and now we see the Stage Play [at, The Lowry]
Re: the sham of the main streets..... This is true ALL OVER THE CITY
New frontages, garden walls, fences, along all of the main roads
BUT, just you take to a side street and beyond
and you will see DECADES OF NEGLECT ..... homes, that look like slums [from outside]
Roads with suspension-killing potholes and 'sleeping policemen' [road calming measures]
so-steep on approach, they feel like kerbstones
Gardens and property perimeters, that look just like post-war bombsites
Houses earmarked for redevelopment, left-standing, empty and shuttered, for over ten years
~project, put on hold and never after, brought back onto the table
~post-war housing, being emptied, to replace them with multi-occupancy accomodation [new building]
_upon the same footprint [
