Stopping by to say hello
I just finished my cleaning all my fans and am having lunch now.
Hopefully it will begin to feel like FALL in your 'neck of the woods' soon, Shirley!

It is sort of like Fall today...we have a cloud cover, football is on the tv set...

We lost power today for about three hours; I assume due to the wind. The sun has continued to shine, but the wind gusts were strong. I'm just glad it's back on. A few years back, we had the only wind storm I've ever witnessed. This area regained power within 24 hours, but some were without for a week or more.

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone.

Dave, peace to you. I hope your payment gets straightened up soon.

Happy to hear your power is back; it is amazing how much we depend on it!
With the ice storm a few years back we were without power almost 2 weeks (others almost 1 month)
We made do, but it changed our daily lives 100% with no heat (thankfully we also burn wood) or hot water either; it was so much work just to preserve whatever food we could salvage and stay warm!
When the power came back I swear you could hear whoops and hollars for miles

One of those relaxing days, watched 'Carry On...,' movies and played games, a new John Denver book arrived for music book collection arrived. The downside was that Babs had a migraine and the upside was it gave me an exuse to look after her with tea in bed etc

I got a lot done today...but enjoyed the sense of achievement...also felt very relaxed.

I am ready for a morning at church tomorrow.

Those migranes really put people down .

So far, by God's great mercy, I've ever lost power during the winter. Even in blizzards and ice storms, I've been spared. It could easily happen; I'm not sure what I'd do. Probably, I'd have to spend time at a nursing home because mine is the only bathroom I can use with relative ease. I wish I had alternative heating. At least you do have that.

Yes we were blessed in that aspect.... and in both of us having good enough health to keep up with it all!
It was a full time (exhausting)job just to survive the cold.... bringing in wood and keeping the stove going (it is not an air tight model).
We did get very creative with it for cooking though...heating water to bath etc ,pizza, soups, and thankfully we also have a grill attachment on the door for cooking meats!
I expect there would be shelters set up (as they did here) that you could go to

I'm sure it was very tiring just to survive. It gives new appreciation for what the pioneers endured I imagine.
For sure and they didn't have our modern technology that we could get relief from either (cell phones, toilets etc)
