So apparently, Catholic monks invented Parmesan cheese folks. One could truly say, in Jesus we trust first, and then Cheeses we trust second. :) I hope that was a good pun.

Quote from Aleteia: "As explained by cheesemaker association 'The Four Madonnas,' Parmesan cheese was first created in Benedictine monasteries around the northern Italian towns of Modena, Reggio Emilia, Parma and Bologna, thanks to a technique learned from monks from the famous French monastery in Cluny, Saône-et-Loire, France."

That’s really interesting. Same with modern chicken, and champagne :)
That is awesome. We can thank Christians (and Catholics) for developing good flavored foods. I do not drink alcohol though, unless it is a tiny sip once every blue moon.

Various wines and foods were invented in monasteries across Europe.

The monks had the time to work on experimenting in order to make it the best.
The lay class of people were too busy taking care of their families or being dragged
off to fight wars. :D

I used to buy Leffe Beer, which is produced in Belgium at a Benedictine Monastery.

The Trappist in Spencer tried to produce their own beer but being they could only keep
25%, it was uneconomical for them to continue.

Trappist beer is high quality, from what I have heard. I do not drink beer, but have heard good things about that type of beer.

There is still a Trappist Monastery in France that still makes Trappist beer.

The Abbey in Spencer, MA, sent two young monks to the monastery in France to learn how to make beer, They
spent two years there learning under the master beer maker. Then, they came back and the monastery in France
sent two of their own monks to help set up the brewery in Spencer MA.

It was good, but very expensive. $17.95 for four bottles. Probably why they did survive in the beer making
industry. :D

That is pretty cool. It is good that the Trappists have not gone extinct yet, and great how the French established a brewery in MA. Dang, nearly ~$4.50/bottle? That is more expensive than some high-end smoothie juices.

They didn't survive the beer making industry. They could only make 25% off of what they made. The rest
went to distributors and a marketing agency.

Well hey, at least the recipe survives on. :) Just like humans, we will eventually pass away, but our legacy (such as children) will live on. Though, given the state of the world, I do not want to have kids, and would rather focus on God.

I'm not a beer drinker as I prefer wine. However, one of the beers I do like is Leffe, Belgium White Ale.

What is your favorite type of wine? I do not drink wine, but on a trip to Northern Italy (I was 14), the bartender let me try some Prosecco (sweet wine) and it was good.

The Belgians make good beer from what I have heard. It is good that Leffe is made by Christian monks.

Depends on what I'm eating, as I have wine with dinner.

For fish and chicken, Vouvray is my favorite.

For meat or pasta with red sauce, Bordeaux or Pinot Noir.

Josh wines are pretty good for US wines, but I prefer French wines.

French wines seem less strong that American wines.

Interesting stuff.
My former doctor was an advocate of drinking wine, especially red wine.

Anyway, back in 2019, I ended up with a bad blood infection, which hospitalized me.
The infection hit my bicuspid aortic valve, which meant I had to go for open heart surgery and have
the valve replaced with a biological valve, known as a pig valve. Before the operation, I had
to go through a CAT scan to see if I had any blockages that they could repair while in there.
I had no blockages, and I attribute it to drinking wine. Heck, when I was working, I ate
breakfast every morning at a diner. Eggs were my everyday staple along with half and half
cream in my coffee. :D

Yes, wine in small amounts can help folks with health. It is good that your heart was healed, and I pray that nothing bad happens to you.
