• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does god convict a believer of judgement because thru this trial i have been tested and i think god is sifting out the bad in my life. I don't know if he's chastening me or convicting me. I wonder if it may not be ocd at all just a fear of he's coming judgment. i sin and i feel he's judgement. somewhere in the bible it speaks since we are judge by the lord we are discplined by the lord so we are condemed with the world. i just wonder is god telling me this so i don't sin thru this trial i will thank god when i come out stronger than ever before.

When we sin the Holy Spirit convicts of this and He brings us unto repentance. God does discipline His children and we should recieve it with gladness. He loves us enough to do so.

God has taken out things in my life He dislikes, He gives me convictions and He gives me a chance to repent from them. Its important that you let the Holy Spirit convict you. He isnt condemning you or casting you away, but He is telling you: "Hey I dont like this" "Repent from this action".

Soo if you have done anything wrong just turn from it and ask God to help you repent :)

God is faithful to forgive if we repent :)

My friend, you are going through something that we all do. Bible says we have a "nature" that causes us to sin. Guess what else it says?
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh..."
(King James Version), Here's Rob64's version, Before we are saved, we are condemned to death - spiritually. Because we are sinners, and going to hell.
After we get saved, we are no longer condemned!
Even tho we still "fall short", we are still saved.
Now, whenever we do happen to sin, "If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin, AND to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness".
To repent DOES NOT MEAN to quit sinning. If we could quit sinning, then what is Jesus for? To repent means to "change the way you think about sin". As quoted from the Strongest Strongs Concordance - (greek)
You see, Jesus already did everything for us. We are supposed to look at ourselves as "crucified with Christ". The nature we have that causes us to sin, is nailed to the cross with Jesus. It's no longer us that sins, but sin that lives in us! We are not slaves to sin. Only because we have been "crucified with Christ"
Look, if you sin, just confess it to God, and go on with your life. This is something you will ALWAYS have to do. Fall short, confess, fall short, confess, fall short, confess. Its gonna be like that from now on. You mess up, just humbly tell God you messed up. YOU ARE STILL SAVED

define repentance and conviction for me because this fear of judgement is disabling. i don't know if it's god or ocd all i do is lay in the bed and obsess. if god's telling me not to do this does he use judgment as a tool to shake a believer into repentance. i think im obsessing over judgement. only time will tell.

Dabro, we serve a loving God. Even in discipline He is loving. He is not the author of confusion. Nor does He ever condemn.

You can know when it is God who is speaking to you, because even in correction there is always a sense of peace. He does not force you to do something. Your free will--your sense of choice--is never violated. He does not beat you up, either physically or verbally or emotionally.

God is love. His will is for you to be healed and set free. He doesn't want you to be confused or tied in knots over something. He is loving, He is kind.

Go to God, cry out to Him. The Bible says, "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved," Romans 10:13. I've found that prayer to comfort me--just call out the name of Jesus and ask for help. I thank Him for His presence, and that He says He will never leave me or forsake me, Heb. 13:5.

He also promises me that He will guide me, Ps. 32:8. The best way I have found of getting God's guidance when I am troubled is to go to my Bible and read. Sometimes I pray as I read, sometimes I memorize. Just being in the Word is so much comfort. Psalms, the book of John, the Proverbs--all of these are good places for me when I am struggling with something....I just read, let go and let God.

Be blessed, my brother in the Lord. It is God's will to give you the kingdom, and for you to reign victoriously in this life. He is our Healer, our Help, our Redeemer, our Comfort, our Victory. He is with you. He will help you.

jayangle it would make alot of sense if this was and is god doing this. What does the conviction feel like to you.

I dont think I can really give you a discription on what it feels like, I say this because I cant really put it in words, I guess you can say its a huge tug on my heart. Gods conviction always brings me to repentance.

You do need to discern tho with OCD our "feelings" get in the way. Ive oftentimes question "was this from God"

Answer is read Gods Word, God just loves to convict us through His Word

you will just know in time. I know that doesnt really help, but what you need to do is submit yourself to God, and ask Him to convict you, you will know it.

And as Ariel said , He isnt an author of confusion. nor does He bring your fear into your heart but peace of mind.

Ariel mentioned to get into Gods Word, this is something we need to do. Its a must in the Christian life. and it will bring you comfort and it will guide you.

Ignore this feeling of fear of judgment. Trust in the Lord and you can rest in Him.

Jesus said a man will not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4)

Well we shouldnt live by our feelings either. That is gonna just take you right into the hands of the enemy, He will snare and trap you..

you dont want that;)

I agree with the others. The thing that jumps out at me here is that I have rarely ever feared God's chastening since having a child myself. Hebrews tells us that God chastens those that are His because He loves them.

Dabro, I don't know if you are a parent or not, but I just know that as a parent, I had to discipline my son because I loved him so much. Just like God. However, I disciplined him was for his ultimate good. It would have been easier many times just to let things go unchallenged, but, again, because we loved so much, we couldn't do that.
So..as a child of God, I think we can trust Him and not be afraid of His discipline. Now if we're in deliberate rebellion against Him, I think things could get a little tougher...But you certainly don't sound like someone who is deliberately rebelling against God. Far from it.
