  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I saw this on another forum, and I'd like to make better characters.

This thread is going to be dedicated to truly wonderful characters that have been used here at RPGC
*stratch* CFRPG.
This is to be a place where remarkable characters can be showcased, thusly providing good examples to new or novice players as to what good characters can be, and even exposing some more veteran to some other characters they may not ever have notice.
And a good example for Megachihuahua

Before people go crazy and start posting, I want it known that I am placing forth some VERY strict rules.
Like anyone will actually post
Yeah, Bus, or should I say, BUSKANAKA!
2--ABSOLUTELY NO SPAMMING. If you don't have anything nice, positive, or worthwhile to say, don't post.
Nay, spam all you want

3--Please do not nominate more than two characters per post.
Don't.
And put it in terms an idiot, or a chihuahua, can understand.
And a couple more, blah blah blah

I nominate O'reean from the Time of Trial thread, played by Blessed-one. (I don't know how to link to specific posts, though, and his profile says diddley-squat about him.) He's kind of an... unusual baddie, to say the least. Sure, he's a die-hard Zantukite believer, and a high-ranking one at that, but he has a personality that doesn't seem to fit in with his villainous role-- he's too... friendly, almost.

I nominated him because he's a very intriguing mystery and I always have fun reading posts with him in them.

EDIT: I'm such an idiot sometimes! Quoting the post... thanks, Bus. And yay for Phaedros being nominated!

it makes you feel so special when no one replies to your posts doesn't it mega?

Yeah, Bus, or should I say, BUSKANAKA!
I was framed I tell you!

anyway, I nominate Phaedros Dahlmarrin from 'Portals of Destruction', played by Lady_Firehawk, because I think he is a very real character, for example he has an extreme dislike of a certain race, and his normally quiet, friendly personality changes when around members of that race. It's almost like a red mist fills his brain because he can become very stubborn and resistant to logic that he would normally accept. I just think he is a very interesting character to RP with

here's a post with him in it:

And It returns from the mire of fallen threads, the former leader gone it is left to be revived by a lone adventurer into ye olden pages of CF.

This was used by some of the older RPG'ers and I am bringing it back.
Hopefully it will have better luck the second round...

((I vote we reinstate the don't nominate your own character rule))

I, Pressing_On, hereby nominate the noble villain, Kael, from the never-dying thread The Secret of Rhian.

Kael's original master, ShaddaiVirus, the only person who has ever been able to play him properly (no offense Vulgivigus hagiographus), created a history of the character that essentially created THE plot of the RPG The Secret of Rhian.

Kael adds not only his history to the thread but also a new dimension that gives the story depth. There is the extreme good-Rhian/Bronwen and the extreme bad-Faolan, the wild-card-Kain (who, well no one knows what he is yet, he might just end up in here eventually as well) and Kael, our noble villain, struggling between good and evil, right and wrong and the essentials of life itself.

Aw, reading those posts by Shaddai_Virus makes me feel awful for how much I’ve messed up his character. Still, I say it’s unfair for him to drop such a complex person in my lap and expect me to do something good with him.

I know it’s an old dead game, but I would like to nominate T'Laloc, played by Malakar, from Battles of a Young Warrior Girl. Not only did he change the game from pure action to silly comedy, but he brought awareness to how creatures like dragons are unjustly slain for no reason other than the fact that they are big and scary looking. And in the words of Malakar, “Just because you eat a good innocent person, doesn't mean you have to like it.”

So, now for some examples from this awesome character:

http://www.christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=2728983&postcount=23 (He has a really good point!)

http://www.christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=8045937&postcount=74 (I love these random comments!)

http://www.christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=8078676&postcount=101 (Haha! The mental image this post creates never fails to crack me up!)

The truth of the matter is I’m just a sucker for silly characters.

I nominate Shadowseldil's honor-bound villain,
Daethalion in my RPG "Evermore" he is strange in that fact that this "villain" has an infinitely stronger moral code that the main hero and though he has been in the RPG a quarter of the time as any one else, he has already developed into one of the most fascinating characters in the entire story.

A deadly swordsman, a ferocious warrior, a fiercly loyal patriot to his race, a gentleman of the first order,
an explosive character with Captain Hook Syndrome and a blood-obsession.

The Elf of Dis: Daethalion!!!!
(sorry to many game shows )

Well I can't improve on him and so here is his first post to speak for itself

Well, to keep things from getting over complicated later on,
for my first post on the third Page I will create a post that will provide a list of all characters nominated with at least one of their links (If at all possible)
Unless some one else would rather do it?

Okay, I know I already nominated someone, but I’m going for it again. Since this thread is to show good examples of what RPG characters should be, I want to nominate Artemi, played by Flames, from Age of Mortals, Time of Dragons. She was a character who was fighting for good in a world that was totally consumed by darkness. You can almost feel the pain of the character when her god whom she has been so loyal to leaves her. But what I appreciate about this character even more than her person is how Flames plays her. Most games the characters meet for the first time, have absolutely no connections to each other, but somehow end up saving the world together. Flames made some good connections with the characters and was able to take any random thing that was thrown into the story and incorporate it beautifully. He didn’t start the game with, “Okay, here’s the plot,” but rather gave us a dramatic scene and situation and everything evolved from there. No matter what writing level the other members of the game were on, he always seemed to be able to work well with them. It was his ability to be extremely flexible while keeping an eloquent and cohesive story that really impressed me. He was definitely one of my favorite people to write, and I’m sorry that I didn’t have the honor of writing any more games with him other than this one before he stopped playing.

Anyway, on with the awesome excerpts!

http://www.christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=8217287&postcount=1 (The opening post. What a dramatic and awesome scene! And it gives us so much potential to form nearly any sort of adventure from it!

http://www.christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=8237287&postcount=21 (Read this post and the next. This is a great example of how Flames was able to incorporate his character with others.)

http://www.christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=8247778&postcount=42 (I (Lecarsc) had made up this history about how I was this dragon creature Artemi had raised, and she took to it beautifully. She’s so tender and sweet with the creature. The whole page is great on Flames’s part.)

http://www.christianforums.com/showpost.php?p=8226251&postcount=5 (This is from the OOC thread of the game, but it really shows Flames’s willingness to go with whatever is thrown in the game.)

So anyway, I hope that some of you actually read all this rambling I’ve been doing. I think a lot of what are games are lacking now Flames did very well. After rereading this game, I’m reminded of what a really good RPGer is, and I’m going to see if I can’t improve myself accordingly. I think I’ve been getting a little rusty lately. Arrgh, I wish this game hadn’t have died! I wanna know what happens!

I don't know if I like that idea so much, because then people don't get the whole reason for why that person was nominated, and who nominated them, etc. If people are too lazy to read through the whole thing, then they just don't have enough RPG spirit.
