Hello SDA brothers and sisters!

Welcome to the new and improved SDA forum setup.   We are very happy to have proposed and implemented a change that will hopefully solve the issues of debate between 28-Belief SDAs and SDAs who question the 28 beliefs.

Please note the new thread at the top of this forum here: http://www.christianforums.com/t2180197

Also note that the top of the forum looks quite different. Now there are 3 SDA forums. Please populate these three as you see fit with the purpose of these three forums in mind.

I know that this reform will please and solve many of the problems of SDAs that may have gone because of frustration over the debate that has gone on in the previous SDA setup. So, if you are in touch with them, please let them know of the reforms.

Yours in Christ,
Dave

Quick clarification question...
We can debate in the main section only with SDA's, and no debate in the two new ones?

People who hold strictly to the 28 Beliefs can debate in the Traditional area, and can debate in the regular SDA area.
People who are Reformers or do not hold traditional views regarding the 28 Beliefs according to the SDA website can debate in the Reformed area and can debate in the regular SDA area.

Great job, Dave, and many thanks. I will certainly be logging on to the Kudos forum to tell the Admins how grateful I am for the fine effort you are putting out here. (Hint!)

Thanks. It's not all me, though. rnmomof7 was a key player in this hopefully helpful change, as was Erwin. Other staffers also gave their inputs. It was a bigger effort than just me, to be sure.

Ok, great. And not to be totally dense, but can those who hold to the 28 even post in the other area and vice versa? And if so, do the rules for other denominations apply? (IE, can ask a question, but not debate the answer?)

Also, hopefully this is alright, I plan to REPOST a few key insights from other threads in the 28 section. In other words, topics like my post on death etc. were primarily intended to answer questions for those who wonder about the 28. So I assume it is alright to repost some of that info in a new thread within the 28 section so that they could be directed there when questions arise?

Yes, the Reformed SDA forum acts just like the Baptist or Semper areas for Traditional SDAs, and vice-versa. You can post questions and fellowship. See the Purpose statement at the top of each of these three forums for the definition of fellowship.

That is fine to repost, we actually welcome it. The threads in the general area need to stay here because they have posts from both groups. We don't want to start trashing posts or splitting threads to depopulate this area. But anything already posted in the general area before the changes can be reposted in the other areas.

Great! I think that answers all my questions. A good solution!

I proposed a separate icon, but that part of the issue was not picked up in the change. It was a SDA flame like the current one, but it was gold and green instead. I'll see what staff thinks about a list or if there is another solution.

yeah, I think I have a few views I am not sure would fall under the 28, but in general I support the 28. So going with that one.

And as to icons...it is a shame enough to our name we have to have three boards to get along...how bad would it be if we were running around with two icons?

Its the only way to prevent continued witchhunting or accusations of not being a "true" adventist...

My thoughts exactly. The Moderators have done the best they could with what we gave them. It is very disappointing to me that this was necessary. I am not a Reformed Adventist. I am a Progressive Adventist because the path of the just is as a shining light that shines unto the perfect day. True Christianity is progressive. I am comfortable beginning threads only in the main forum. I will read the other forums because they are there and I want to read what everyone has to say. As is said in Desiderata, even the dull and ignorant have their story and should be given a listening ear.

If "Reformed" SDA is not a good name, it can be changed. I thought it was less problematic than "Liberal," and we didn't want to post a poll to name something that may not have been approved and implemented. I'll post a "name your forum" thread in the "Reformed" area.
