CF Software Upgrade this weekend and next week...

It is anticipated that about midnight Sunday night GMT CF will go offline to upgrade its base forum software.

As our database is massive, this upgrade may take a while - I anticipate at least a 12 hour downtime - I'm not sure though.

Once the forum software is upgraded, ALL our special features (Armor, Character, Arcade etc) will be OFFLINE. I will need to recode all the CF special features for this new major version of the CF software. This recoding will take the better part of next week, and may even take longer.

This upgrade has been in the works for a while, but I wanted the new version of the software to be more stable first.

Thanks for all your patience. With this upgrade should come a better CF interface. CF will also have a new look as well.

Cool! I'll miss CF for these 12 hours, and all the special features, but I'm sure that CF will be even better than it ever was once the upgrade is complete.

So, a minimum probably of 12 hours that the site will be down.....and then the better part of next week, maybe even longer for the special features to be OFFLINE.

For the clock-challenged out there (like me) can you please clarify if "midnight Sunday" means the period between Saturday night and Sunday morning, or if it means the period between Sunday night and Monday morning? In other words, will I be unable to access CF during the day on Sunday or Monday?

Midnight sunday would be Saturday night/Sunday morning. But its GMT (Greenwich mean time), so pretty much the time in londen. Since I live in the eastern time zone, it CF will go down at 7pm, Sat. Night. 6pm Central, 5pm mountain, and 4pm pacific. I think I got all that right.

Everyone, can we remember to pray for Erwin when doing this? I've done this upgrade twice, and I know it's moderately horrendous, and that's on two small forums. The only thing we can do to help is to pray, but it's very vital that we do this. Erwin, brother, I'll be praying for you through this, and I know many others will!
