How do you conquer temptations and the physical feeling?

Hi Cita,
Welcome to CF .. especially to Mature Singles.

I've not been celibate since before I was married. I remember the torture I went thru till I was married. But if I know a sensual relationship will hurt a lady, I don't go there because I don't want to hurt people. This past weekend I spent 5 days with an exGF on vacation to celebrate the New Year. There was no sex as it would have been hurtful to her. But other ladies know it wouldn't hurt them so we enjoy that pleasure and thank God for it.
But I view these things differently than others her do.

Some days it isn't hard ...

Others days, I wonder where to find that man that Paul suggests we marry.

1 Cor 7:8-9
Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. 9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

How do you conquer temptations and the physical feeling?

1. I recall my past where sexual immorality harmed myself and Others , and this serves to help me remember the consequences.

2. I move into prayer asking God to diffuse the temptation or feeling.

3. I realize that my sexuality is only ONE part of who I am and that its okay if I choose not to express it .

4. I recall what Gods design is in our sexuality and when it is healthy to partake in it with another person (marriage only) . Im tired of hurting God since he has feelings too.

5. I take my mind off of the situation at hand, and focus on other things.

6. I talk the issue over with some trusted same sex Friends.

7. I make sure I get regular strenuous excersise to reduce stress which I find beneficial to countering sexual lures.

8. I keep away from Porn, don't focus on sexy billboards, take my eyes off of scantily clad women soon , am careful what I watch on TV and movies .

9. I realize that my sexual struggles are temporary in this life and in eternity there wont be any.

10 . I appeal to spiritual warfare instruments when Satan tries to tempt me into sexual immorality .
