I don't find anything surprising in the sermon. I disagree with some of the conclusions, but I have considered them before. I think it is a good sermon (although I like the sermons at my church better, although I agree with that pastor more then my own, I Think).

One area of disagreement, I think that God allows Himself to be constrained by our free will, and is not constrained by Nature.

Interesting sermon, I think we know this in our heads until something bad happens to us or those around us then we resort to the Santa image of God, we spout the story of Job but we act as if his experience is the exception to the rule when it is not. Good and bad things happen to good and bad people- that's life.

The only conclusion I disagree with was expressed in his prayer where he portrayed God as being preoccupied in some remote part of the universe. I think that our aversion to pantheism has caused us to adopt a view of God that is not true. God is not some overseer. From His perspective there is no remote part of the universe because all of the universe is inside of Him. That is the only conclusion given a God who occupies all time and space.
