Thread: The Dying Light

Name: Celeste Nostiel
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 30
Height: 5’7’’
Weight: 128
Occupation: Politician

Appearance: Celeste has a beauty about her that is striking, and, if one gets too close…deadly. Her eyes are almond-shaped; turned slightly up at the corners that give her the look of a vixen; and a soft hazel under thick lashes. Her lips are frequently referred to as kittenish, a smooth pink on pale skin. It matches perfectly with her light blonde hair, hanging long in loose, delicate curls. There's also one small, dark spot on the outside corner of her left eye situated right underneath. However, just because she’s pretty doesn’t mean she necessarily makes her appearance such all the time. She can actually have quite a serious look about her when she wants…and often has, demanding to be respected.

Most of her attire is clean and expensive: lace and silk gowns with tight bodices; ribbons and hairpins; and jewelry, even if she doesn’t wear much. Though she sticks to the appropriate way in front of others, wearing such things with her hair always pulled away from her face, alone she chooses quite differently. In private she’ll disown the dresses, and wear trousers with shirts, as well as allow her hair to remain long down her back. She does have a sword from her life spent in the Bulwark, and can fight with it fairly well, though she doesn’t carry it around often. Instead she has a much smaller blade; a dagger which is always kept in the folds of her dress, and able to be hidden.

Personality: Celeste has a very take-charge attitude, and will go out of her way in order to make sure something is done properly. By her. While she’s not uptight or stern, she does tend to portray a commanding yet cold demeanor out in public or when the situation calls for it. But get her alone and she’s incredibly laid back, choosing to lounge in trousers with a glass of brandy…and a cigar, if she can get her hands on one. Around this time is also when she’s the most comfortable, and it’ll show, not being above teasing or jokes.

However, no matter what she chooses to do, she does so with feminine appeal. If one is kind to her, she’ll be kind back. But it’s just the same vice versa as she holds no qualms with telling others exactly what’s on her mind. Although she has the appearance of a seductress…she’s actually far from acting as such being a woman with high expectations, and extremely independent, which is why when she never married, moved away from her parents in order to start her own life without dependency.

Background: Celeste came from a well-thriving family, decently happy with her life, despite the fact her mother died from malaria when she was a young woman, and most of her time was spent around five brothers. She was the middle child, with three older and two younger. Being the only girl, she had to learn to stand up for herself and be the spotlight in the midst of successful men, and consequently, grew to have a rather boyish, laid back attitude. At least when she was younger. When she grew into a woman, she forced herself to lose that portrayal in public in order to gain respect. Though she never lost her independent streak. At eighteen, only a few years after her mother’s death, she left home in Maldor Settlement in the south and moved to Limdur Settlement towards the north in order to pursue a career amongst the Bulwark.

There she met Emmett Donahue, a young man whose family had founded Limdur some eighty years prior, and as such held a lot of power in the settlement. He was smart, successful, charming, and had captured Celeste's heart almost immediately. Their relationship started casually, but then grew drastically in a short period of time. When Celeste was nineteen, he proposed, though their engagement only lasted for a few months after that before he broke it off. During that time, however, she had given him everything--her heart, her mind, and her body, leaving nothing to herself but the clothes on her back. Needless to say, when he left her she was devastated...and quickly sought revenge.

For months afterward, she protested against the Donahues. It eventually lead into an outspoken riot between the settlers and the representatives, the former angry that such force couldn't be detained. Celeste, of course, stood out amongst them where a final outcry brought Emmett and his family down a notch. At twenty she then took his place as Limdur's main proxy, succeeding in both of her goals: establishing an authoritative career and retaliating. Smarter and more mature from her experience, she continued raising Limdur up while battling against their ongoing threat. The Mist-cursed.
