Please go to this link and read the article that starts with this:

www.fallwell.com

"If Jesus were walking the Earth today, what would He say about gay and lesbian people, about their lives and their push for acceptance in American society?

Lots of people ask this question, because many Christians believe that it is a privilege to be able to model their own personal behavior after that of their Lord and Savior. And the answer may shock you."

This this correct?

"If the Bible is the literal Word of God, then every verse in it must be taken literally. Some verses cannot be taken word-for-word while others are dismissed."

I am not sure if this exactly what you meant, but we are not suppose to take everything literal in the bible, unless the church has stated otherwise or common tradition has an interpretation, which is basically always the case. We always have to look at what the early fathers taught, the holy popes, and what the great doctors of the church say on certain passages of scripture, otherwise we are lost.

This is not really a tough question. I know exactly what He would do. He would condemn that behavior as intrinsically evil and an abomination before God, worthy of eternal hell fire, just as He does through his Holy Catholic Church. But He would also do it with charity and prudence telling them to seek repentence.

That website will do nothing but mess with your head. Read good tradition Catholic commentaries on scripture, the Haydock, Cornelius a Lapide, Catena Aurea.

If the Bible is the literal Word of God, then every verse in it must be taken literally. Some verses cannot be taken word-for-word while others are dismissed. The above verses prove that a fundamentalist interpretation of scripture produces irrationalities and profound inconsistencies.

As far as I understand it, this is not the Catholic point of view. Catholics do not rely on the Bible as being literal, but instead rely on our Bishops and the Church to provide the correct understanding of the Bible for us.

Scripture itself is not intrinsically inerrant or infallible, but iit is the Church that provides us with an infallible understanding of Scripture, in terms of the moral teaching and dogma of the Church.

CoreyZallow,

You are being deceived by Satan if you think that Christ would not condemn homosexuals. Homosexuality is a grave sin. Why do you think that Soddom and Gomorrah were destroyed? It was because of the rampant homosexuality going on in those cities. The Bible makes it to be understood that homosexuals will not go to Heaven unless they repent of their perversion and receive Christ.

The Truth is homosexual males are the spawn of the "raped virgin". I am
only going to explain male homosexuality in this post. When a virgin is
raped, and conceives a child, this child is cursed with the stain of
the rape. This does not make the child bad. This child will give rise
to people who produce that which will avenge the virgin. Her innocence
was stolen from her, violently. Her lineage will contain those members
who will rape the innocence out of all mankind. **(Brian Swansword, “The
Theology of Innocence” P.82)** There is no greater rape of innocence
than sodomy. Even being exposed to the concept is violence. It is an
abonimable act, forbidden in The New Testament **(Holy Bible I
Corinthians Chapter 6)**. If a person is male homosexual, this is
call to celibacy from God. It is only through the Love of your
heavenly Father that you will be able to remain celibate(Nature itself).
The New Testament also states: "If a man lies with another man as a
man lies with a woman, he shall take his sin into his own body for
doing that which is unseemly" **(Holy Bible NAB Romans Chapter 1)**.

To allow male homosexuals to engage in sodomy is to have the
innocence of all mankind robbed away **(Brian Swansword, “The Theology
of Innocence” P.83)**. This act will make everyone guilty of
sodomy.**(The Bible specifically states that complicity with the
sin of another makes you guilty of it. Complicity includes
counsel, participation, apostasy, example, tolerance, indifference,
commission, oppression)** The Bible specifically says, in The new
Testament, "no sodomites will be allowed into the kingdom of
God"**(Holy Bible I Corinthians Chapter 6)**. If your brother sins,
confront him, out of love for him, alone. If he refuses to repent,
take him before several members of the Church. If he still will
not repent, take him before the whole congregation. If he still will
not repent, expel him from your midst**(Holy Bible Matthew Chapter 18)**.

The homosexual male must repent, or be expelled. If sodomy is
tolerated, and we permitted, or even condoned it, we are guilty of
sodomy, too(see above citations).

I have some people I know who are homosexual. They disagree with me,
and think sodomy is just a really cool way to have sex. They actually
lust after this. I think Jesus would have something to say about all
the sodomy going on(my personal opinion), although I don't think he
would condemn people for simply having homosexual attraction(my
personal opinion). I don't think Jesus would ask them to change,
unless they really, truly wanted to be heterosexual(my personal
opinion). Then I think Jesus would cure them just like he cured
everyone else who had faith(my personal opinion).

Brian Swansword is a well known evangelist in the area of release from
family curses.
His ministry is regional, and he functions under the assumtion that
if God is leading someone to him, they will find him.
The scriptural basis for his work is explained in another
work called, "Biblical Basis of Generational Curses". I have verified
Brian's Divine revelations by the authority given to me by The Holy Spirit,
in The Name of Jesus. It is the Testimony of The Almighty God. If
you disagree, take it to prayer. Be open. God will show you how
you have been injured. He is very gentle. If you are a homosexual,
all you need to do to become heterosexual is repent of the curse of the
raped virgin. Here is a prayer: "God, I confess raping the virgin, and
bearing the vengeance of the raped virgin. I confess sodomy, oral sex,
and other unnatural vice. I honor all of my blood relatives, and
those by the spirit of adoption, or godparents, but I reject their sin.
I forgive my entire family lineage for cursing me with homosexuality.
Jesus, I ask that you forgive my entire blood relation for all their sins.
I take responsibility for the sin of my entire blood relation,
including my own sin. I ask that by the Sacrifice of Jesus all
the sins I confess, including all the sins of all my ancestors,
be forgiven, and I be set free from prison. I claim the freedom
given to me by the blood of Jesus."

This prayer works. I have seen it work.

No need to ask for any hard science to back this claim up.
Somebody wrote a book on it, so it must be true.

.... I have no idea what that book was trying to say (I'm probably just tired, but I still didn't quite understand...) However, I do know that the Bible is what we're supposed to believe, in faith, whether we agree or not... I know lots of Catholics think that it's okay, and a lot of them treat it like the plague... This gives a very mixed up picture to those who are NOT Catholic (me included). However, the Bible clearly states in both the New and old Testiments that homosexuality is wrong... Doesn't that mean that all Christians should believe it? Of course it should.

However, if you'll kindly turn to Revelations 2:20, you'll see that the prophesy says that one part of the church will agree with Jezebel (a prophetess whose teachings led to sexual sin), or as I like to name her : Society. Now, I know that not all catholics think it's wrong, or course not, but I'm saying that a ton that I've had the chance to talk to think it's okay "As long as they love each other"....

Isn't there something wrong with that sentance????

While there may be Catholics within the Catholic Church who think that homosexual behavior is okay, nowhere in the Official teachings of the Catholic Church is homosexual behavior condoned. You can love the sinner, but the sin is an abomination to God and the sin of homosexual behavior has always been the consistent teaching of the Catholic church.

God Bless,
Maria

Oh I agree with that, MariaG. It's completely correct. I think it's just strange that every single Catholic I've become attached to as a friend is okay with this behavior, and they say that it's "right", for various reasons...

While the Bible condemns Homosexuality, it does not condemn those who act on it. The Bible says it is an Impurity, similar to gossip, lying, etc... etc... So we are to care for and respect homosexual people, however, it is also our responsibility to push them to re-evaluate their actions, and be in submission to God.

From what I understand, the Catholic Church, and others I'm sure, has a harsher view on homosexuality. But I'm sure they still act like the Church should, taking in those who need care....

Of course, I'm not Catholic, so don't ask me....

Well, unfortunately, many who identify themselves as Catholic, are nominal Catholics at best. They would be ones who when asked if they are Christian would respond "NO, I'm Catholic." Not even seeming to understand that being Catholic is to be Christian. Whereas someone who was a fallen away say, Evangelical, would not identify themselves as evangelical anymore (although they may still call themselves Christian), Catholics tend to identify themselves as Catholic for life. (Even if they call themselves something like a "recovering Catholic")

Others have fallen for the view that the Church needs to reform and modernize. Changing the view on homosexuality is part of what they feel needs to be changed.

Fortunately, God doesn't change and neither will the teachings of the Catholic Church on this.

God Bless,
Maria

And mind you, unlike fallen away Christians who just stop going, you can have "nominal Catholics" who actually attend every Sunday.

The Late JPII has said, as have others, that there needs to be a revival (He did not use that word, but this is what he meant). That too many in the Catholic Church just go through the motions and need a heart change.

The sad part is when Catholic Christians who have not had that "born-again" experience in the Catholic Church and truly find Christ in another denomination, they blame the Catholic Church instead of the possibility that they just weren't listening or weren't open to Christ while attending Mass.

The Catholic Mass is simply jam packed full of great Christian symbols and practices. But if the heart is not in it, people can just say the words without involving any real worship. For example: In Mass, there is a moment when we turn to our neighbors and shake hands and say "Peace be with you" Some use this as a greeting losing sight of the fact that these were the very first words Christ said after He rose from the dead. This is not a greeting but a proclamation of the Risen Christ!!!

God Bless,
Maria

This is a congregation specific thread... only Roman Catholic can post in it.

However, staff is willing to make it available to anyone to post in but the OP will need to send me a pm to make this change.

Also remember the 4.2 rules. If you make any comment about the morality of homosexuality, you must have a citation. Simply putting in the CCC and the number or a bible verse (chapter and verse) is sufficient.

One citation a post is what is minmally required if homosexuality is mentioned in the post.
