Automotive designer, engineer, and the owner of Putsch Auto Media, Casey Putsch recently appeared on Tucker Carlson's podcast. In this episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, Putsch gave his insights on his 2012 innovation, the Omega Car.

Casey Putsch claimed that this highly efficient diesel vehicle is capable of achieving "over 100 miles per gallon" while accelerating from "0 to 60 in under 5 sec."

Casey Putsch also opened up about the setbacks he faced despite successfully building the Omega car.

"When I successfully built the car, I realized I dont have a voice. I asked myself, if the world does not know of its presence, and nobody hears about it, then what am I gonna do with this thing," Casey Putsch said.
Tucker Carlson further went on to compare Casey's feelings to those of Nikola Tesla, suggesting that, like Tesla, Casey's work was not commercialized and lacked media influence.

"You felt like Nikola Tesla", Carlson remarked.
Casey Putsch casually replied, saying:

"Perhaps I don't, but he certainly had an interesting character."

Claims are really easy to make. People have claimed that they made a car run on water or were able to run full bloodworks on a single drop of blood. Unless the properties of that supposed car have been verified by an independent tester, I'll assume that it doesn't exist on the pure basis of it being presented on the Tucker Carlson show.

Even if this guy can't do it, I think that someday we can approach far more mpg than we are getting now. What will be sad is if the USA uses up most of its oil reserves before efficiency really kicks in. This is one reason to me that it is OK to leave some oil and gas drilling for future generations. The democrats may do this for environmental reasons, but the reality is that holding back some reserves is very practical.

The "zero to 60 mph in under 5 seconds" is part of the problem in this country. How many times in the lifetime of the car is the typical owner going to need that much power? Likewise, our desire for trucks, SUV's and all wheel drive or 4 wheeel drive makes no sense for most drivers. The capacity and capabilities of these vehicles is rarely needed or used. Maybe it's time we demand more efficent, practical and affordable vehicles that reflect our actual day to day driving experience.

Yes, I know....lecturing Americans to be practical is a losing argument. Just ask Jimmy Carter. Ironically, Donald Trump is now asking American's to do endure a little pain thanks to his tariff policy. His policies will make the cheapest cars, often made in Mexico, South Korea etc...more expensive.

In 1993 at Hickim Air Force base in Hawaii I was the guest of an Air Force squadron. I do not recall the name of the unit but their business card was shaped like an old razor blade and the motto was "The cutting edge of EW" they were flying the F4G wild weasel at the time. I was able to go from 0 to well, I don't know, It didn't feel like we ever stopped excelerateing. Know I passed Mach 2 over the Pacific.

I remember the water carburetor. If only misinformation would go back to the good old days.

But it's not even that aggressive (though it certainly would be for a 100 mpg vehicle). My midlife-crisis-mobile can do that.

I checked out his youtube channel, and there's not a whole lot of information about the inner workings of the car. There is, however, quite a bit of conspiracy theory and political stuff. He generally comes across as an arrogant jerk.

The car itself appears to be made of fiberglass. I question whether it would be able to meet highway safety standards (in any market), as I suspect that it manages its impressive gas mileage and acceleration numbers thanks to a combination of low weight (achieved by a lack of safety equipment and zero crash test concessions) and low aerodynamic drag. Probably also two completely different sets of tires.

I do think he has probably achieved the numbers he claims, but I have serious doubts that they can be achieved at the same time, that a fully-certified (safety and emissions) production example will match them, or that the vehicle can be mass produced economically.

I'd buy it if it ever got to production.
I 100% agree.
As for those whom appear to be dismissive of this story just because he was interviewed by Tucker Carlson, I suggest that you read up on Mr. Casey Putch yourself and/or watch other videos out there about him and his ideas. I bet that you very well could be pleasantly surprised at the veracity of his statements. Thank you, @RocksInMyHead for looking at his youtube channel.

Super light and delicate could work great if everyone gave up the mega trucks and Tahoes etc and drove those. Im down.

It truly does look like Casey Putch does have evidence to back up some of what he says.

Deer, power poles and guard rails would retain their current density regardless of what is driven.

The key word here is "some." Honestly, his performance claims aren't that special. Production ICE vehicles have approached 100 mpg when driven carefully, and it's quite easy to tune an engine to get those acceleration numbers on a very light car, especially if you ignore all emissions controls. The main issues come with his claims that his vehicle can replace existing vehicles in production. That would require meeting safety and emissions standards, as well as being able to be mass-produced in such a way that it was affordable. It would also need to scale into more practical designs - the current 2-seater coupe looks cool, but isn't going to be a practical daily driver for 90% of Americans.
