  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

yes I do - computer ones are nice but i haven't found any really good sites with great ideas!!! so i prefer hand made ones - it takes longer but i like doing it

Great ideas for the artwork or for the words? I like doing artwork. I've been trying to market cards lately, using the artwork I have been creating. And no, I'm not trying to sell you any - I just wondered if we should be sharing ideas. :)

Dried flowers sounds really neat. Do you cover them?

I just posted a bunch over in the thread for your Sunday School class. :)

With dried flower cards, if you just glue the flowers on, sometimes they would fall off over time. If the cards are just for like a greeting card that would be thrown away, it's not a problem. But if people want to save them as a keepsake, you might need to figure something different.

We did try covering them with saran wrap, but that didn't work very well. You almost need a rigid frame and rigid thin plastic cover.

I guess I should ask before I keep going on.... are you talking dried and pressed flowers? Or are you refering to ones that are dried but also have some depth to them... not pressed.

Non-Denom
my mum does cover her dried flowers - she has used a few different mentods to do it - sometimes non-sticky thin clear plastic which she'll insert in a 3-fold card - so that it opens like a two fold card, but the third fold holds the plastic in place and is glued together with a cutout oval or square where the flowers are displayed - kind of like a picture frame. Sometimes she uses a sticky film to cover them. I should scan a few to show you how they look.

Sometimes, because they're such nice cards, she'll include a photo frame the right size so that if the recipent wishes, they can frame it afterwards! She also does just framed dried flower pics (as in not cards) so she knows that people like to have them displayed in frames.

You can buy special microwave kits to dry/press flowers that makes it really quick and easy.

Must have something to do with the size of the roses to begin with. Yes, flowers dry smaller, but the one's I've done are still at least a half and inch or more thick, and that would be an awfully big bump in an envelope, and not go thru the mail well.
