Card games (old fashion style)

It has been about 50 years since I played Rummy. I am relearning. What fun.
I never did really learn how to play Poker right...with the bidding and all.

What are some favorite card games for you?

Euchre, it’s played with 9’s and up, Jacks are bowers, no talking to partners or :yikes:

Gin rummy, Hearts, Whist. I tried Bridge, but found the associated snobbery unwelcoming. These days I play too many online Solitaire games, but you excluded those - not old fashioned.

I dabbled with poker, but gave up at a very early stage. I asked a good friend who would get involved in two day long poker sessions, how best to play. He said there were two simple rules: never play anyone you cannot beat; never bet on a losing hand.

Favorite is euchre, but poker at family get-to-gathers. We play for small change, great fun. Favorite of most is seven card stud or showdown.

Love card games. Euchre is fun, but hardly anybody here on the West Coast knows it. It's huge in the Midwest, though.

Gin, Cribbage, Poker, Hearts, Sheepshead, Spades, Hearts, Pinochle, even Go Fish.

"Memory" is a great kids card game (I think I remember how to play it).

We played poker and pinochle when I was young. Thanks for reminding me of the good times in the good old days.

I have volunteered to be a Big Brother. My little needs things in a narrow window of activities to hold his attention and not confuse him. War was pretty good and. Crazy eights. I thought I'd try Rummy. Any others in that class. Euchre sounds complicated. With Black jack I think we would need chips to make it more interesting.

Yeah, Euchre takes a bit to catch on. Phase 10, though not a "classic" game (and it has it's own deck of cards instead of standard playing cards), is simple and fun. Better with more than 2 people, though.

Hearts is relatively easy to pick up.
