I did a scan and found that my computer is not suitable for World of Warcraft. Being non-technical, I don't know exactly what the problem is. Can anyone help me? Here is the info on my computer:

Processor Intel Pentium III 998MHz
Display Card Intel(R) 82815
Memory 256MB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 2000
Free Disk Space 15.28GB
Display Card Memory 4MB
Display Driver Version 5.12.1.2641
DirectX Version 9.0b
Optical Drive CD
Sound Card SoundMAX Digital Audio

Any help would be appreciated!

most likely your RAM and video card. Most games nowadays especially newer ones, require at a video card of at east 256mb RAM and 512mb RAM on the motherboard. It could also be the processor. My PC is four years old at has 2.20 GHz.

My advice, you might just need a new system. For instance, while my PC can play UT2004 without a hitch, i can barely run Morrowind with 20 or so mods.

If my advice still was too technical for you, sorry, i can't say it any simpler. But! again, if you don't want to go trough the hassle and expense of upgrading your PC (which you HAVE to do), i'd say just team up with someone computer savvy and get their advice for getting a new system (it'd probably be cheaper than upgrading your system as it is right now)

RAM might be passable with some creative tweaking, and will only affect speed, but the video card is in definite need of upgrading and will prevent you from playing games.

4MB VRAM is simply inadequate compared to the 128-256MB required for most modern games now. If you're planning on just getting a very cheap upgrade suitable for your system, a Geforce 4 series might be ok. I'd recommend 6000+ or 7000+ but it's not suitable for the CPU speed (it's wasting money because then your bottleneck becomes the CPU).

Overall though, I'd suggest you just get a new system completely.

I mean, even with 2.8ghz, GF6800GT, and 2GB of RAM, World of Warcraft will STILL slow down in the 40 man raids (I use a lot of mods though, which slows down the game some)

The video card is the obvious killer.

I'm able to play WoW fine on my laptop which has a Radeon 7800 (basically a 7500 for laptops with extra OpenGL support) with 64MB of video memory. The machine's three and a half years old, and it's quite playable.

Ah...
Processor Speed
Memory
Graphics Card
Sorry to tell you that these are way below par for a computer system these days. You need to think about upgrading to play WoW and any other new or new-ish game.

whoa dude..it's time for an upgrade. :p Computer parts are sooooo cheap right now.

Buy these:

3.0 Processor (amd or intel, depending on your motherboard)
Radeon 9800 Pro
1 gig of ram.

The easiest route would just to buy a whole new system. You can get a 2.9 or a 3.0 system for like under $400 nowadays. Super cheap.

Not sure of the system specs for WoW, but W3 runs fairly decent on mine (with a few framerate issues). It's a tc1100 HP tablet pc with 32 MB of VRAM and a 1.0 GHz processor.

Yeah, your video card (to put it bluntly) sucks. Upgrade to AT LEAST a 64 MB and you can run a decent assortment of games, from Far Cry to Doom 3 (those are the only ones I know offhand).

I find it amazing that your computer even turns on :)

You need a new processor, new vid card and more ram to play WoW. I run a 2.6gig processor, a 256 vid card and a gig of RAM. And I still lag up in Blackwing Lair.

Of course, I would suggest staying far, far away from WoW. After about a year it becomes, quite possibly, the most boring game i've ever played in my life.

I used to be really into WoW. Then I discovered this strange thing called RL. (Real Life, for non-gamers. Why are you here if you're not a gamer?)
Now I'm scared to pick up WoW again, fearing that I'd get sucked right back in. Thing is, I'm still going to buy The Burning Crusade. I mean, who isn't?

RL is for the looozers! WoW All day and night (well, maybe half the day, and part of the night. Got to leave time for servers being down, "att network issues" and the like. They need to drop ATT for their provider, they obviously can't handle the amount of bandwidth it takes)

Ya know...I'm on two servers and almost NEVER see anyone talk with l33t speak. And have actually met a lot of great people in-game. :)

As for real life...my wife and I play WoW for an hour or two when we get home. Real life for us is something called WORK. :) After that we are too tired to go out.

I know what you mean. Despite being a filthy student, real life for me also involves much soldiering too.
Spending most of my time between lectures, my Unit, and being in the field doesn't exactly leave a lot of time for anything else, let alone WoW!
A man's got to have a sport too, so the precious time I do have is usually spent sat in a small boat, kayaking up and down the Thames. :D
