• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Can't get past this feeling.

I feel so underaccomplished, like God has predestined me to be the Servant with 1 Talent. I wish He'd get the unforgiving spirit out of my heart and mind so I can move onto bigger and better things. Do you think some people are destined to fail?

Fix your mind on Christ - on things above on "Christ in you" and what He wants in your life. Turn from the inward to the upward look.

That is up to you.
You have to hand each situation, all your feelings about that situation, the people involved over to God for him to deal with them, while you do the difficult task of regularly praying intelligently for there good .

I'm not quite sure I understand your post. Are you saying that you feel like you only have one talent? And/or that you are not using your talent(s)? Or that an unforgiving spirit is getting in the way of you using your talents?

Why do you think God wants you to fail? Isn't it more constructive to work from the assumption that God is for you and DOES want you to flourish in Him and be fruitful for Him?

Also, I don't know if you like reading, but sometimes reading books about things I'm struggling with is helpful for me. For a book about loving others, I like "Love Walked Among Us" by Paul E. Miller.

It's both. I'm having a hard time forgiving others, and I sometimes feel like God might've destined me to fail.

It's definitely not easy to forgive others. I've struggled with that myself. But all we can do is remember how much God has forgiven us and the price He paid to accomplish it. Meditating on the gratefulness we feel from God's forgiveness helps us forgive others. :)

As for your feelings of failure, it could just be that you are going through a trial right now. Things may get better soon. Know that God is for you. He may have something good for you coming up soon.

If you have unforgivness towards any body, just forgive them and move on. By the way, if they have hurt you, forgiving them doesn't mean that you let them do it again. But for your talents, you can look into your heart and see what are the things you are interested in, and then try to work on your self and learn them one at a time.

Not to sound critical, but reading your OP the Parable of the 3 servants immediately came to mind. Matthew 25:14-28

I know it can be hard, but we are supposed to be content with the provision God gives to each of us, and invest our talent/s wisely.

That being said, it's often the world that makes us believe we have to compete and "prove" our worth to others. I posted a sermon last night that might be of benefit you, in following Gods plan for your life. You can find it here

As far as the unforgiveness, I understand this well, as I had a lot of bitterness and unforgiveness in my heart before coming to Christ. I tried to forgive people on my own, but was not able to (some trauma makes this impossible for us), so I asked God to please help me with it and remove it from my heart. I went to sleep and woke up the next morning and my heart felt so clean it was akin to feeling like a child again. If I can describe unforgiveness, it's like a black poison that infiltrates and infects the heart. Through my own trials this year, I have noticed it trying to creep back in. So it's necessary to remind ourselves of the scriptures Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood..." satan is real and the battle is in our minds. God wants you healed and whole and putting his kingdom first above all, don't believe anything else that's an aversion to the truth of God's Word.
