can't get divorce papers served

ok , What do I do ?
Husband has moved , wont give me new address to give to lawyers so they can serve him at his place . He works nights at post office and it is locked up and no one can get in except employees .
This is crazy . I want to get this divorce over with as soon as possiable . And He was supposed to come over tuesday to discuss how we are going to divide up credit debt ( who is going to pay what ) and he never showed or called .

Any suggestions ?

Have your lawyer, the sheriff, or whoever serves the papers call the postmaster at the post office to arrange for someone with keys to be there so he can be served. Or have them show up when he either leaves or starts his shift. Its shouldn't really be that hard.

If your lawyers cant, the sheriff can.. will require a little tracking down if his home address is still needed. Get a P.I., if necessary... but follow your lawyer's advice.

i don't know your situation AT ALL, but do you know why he would be doing this? does he not want to get a divorce? does he want to TRY to make it work????

based on what you said, it sounds to me as if he is just trying to make things as difficult as possible for you.

Persevere and follow the advice you got from others here. Your attorney has certainly faced similar situations in the past and has an answer for you.

If you have a close family members address, the family member can receive service. Also like others have said you get the sheriff's office involved and they usually charge 15-30 to serve him or you place your notice of divorce in the newspaper. There is always more than one way to skin a cat, you can also send him a certified letter with forwarding service requested and delivery confirmation with proof of service.
