Can't Find a Verse

I've done some searches to no avail.
I'm looking for a verse that mentions something about forgiveness and or discipline routing out evil.

Does this ring a bell to anyone?

I must not have the correct words or my searches would have found the verse.

It was either from 'The Message' or 'Amplified' version.

Maybe in Hebrews 12 where it discusses discipline. Although the only word in that passage that means punishment is scourge. The Discipline word means more akin to training, or work out for athletes.

OR, it could be the first third of Romans 6.

OR it might be in the study notes for those verses...
