  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have no idea of where to ask this, and so if im in the wrong place someone point me in the right direction.

I remember a verse from the old testament that I have had a great deal of trouble finding, I don't know if i heard one of the modern translations and its skewed my search, but I just can't find it. I also have not ruled out that it is possibly not scripture, but i am fairly sure it is.

Anyway I will try to relate it as best I recall.

Ill give my paraphrase first.

Don't forget the place that you have fallen from.

I took it to mean that we should not forget that we were sinners, and fell from grace, basically don't get proud because your saved.

I want to say its a verse refering to satan
and it may be a secularized translation of Ezekiel 28.

But I remember it saying something like

Forget not from whence thou hast fallen
Forget not how far thou has fallen from

But it was definitely a reminder, I just cant find it, unless it is extant from scripture, or some sort od apochripahae

thanks for any help anyone can give even if its a search link or something

It's from Rev. 2:5, in the letter to the church at Ephesus:

1"To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:
These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands: 2I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. 4Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. 5Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. 6But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. 7He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

Jesus is exhorting the church to live up to what they had already attained. They had slipped and needed to repent and return to their first love.
