  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Concerning building up your marriage?

I'd like to think that DH and I have a good marriage - we are committed and faithful, etc.

However, life has been stressful and it's wearing on us. Our oldest son (13) was recently diagnosed as autistic. But obviously there have been issues long before that. Plus both our sons are ADHD. So parenting - and more specifically the fact that we have different parenting styles - has been a challenge to say the least. And it has affected our marriage. We are short with each other, and sometimes (ok, often!) don't fight fair. And I know that I have been resentful at times. Not healthy at all.

Obviously, we need some family counseling. And prayer. But I was wondering if any of you could recommend a bible study that could help us refocus on having a healthy marriage. Even if it's one just focused on me being a more godly wife.

Well nothing substitutes good Christian counseling, and if your church doesn't offer it, you might want to call up your health insurance provider and ask them to list all the therapists and counselors in the area that take your insurance. They may not be Christian, though.

As far as a regular bible study goes, if your church doesn't have a marriage study right now or a smal group that is centered around marriage,
you can always do one at home.

Do you have an iPhone? if you do, go to the app store and download the Youversion bible app. It's free.
Open the app and go to "plans" and browse the "featured" category and the "family category". The plans they have in there all have names and they tell you underneath that how many days they are.
Pick one you think you can handle, and the phone will remind you every day to do your daily devo at whatever time you tell it to remind you.

You can also go to amazon.com for the best deals on pre-owned copies of
-Love and Respect (and the workbooks that go with it)
-Save your Marriage Before it Starts (and the his and hers workbooks that go with it)

As far as Bible studies go (although, like it's been said, that's not a substitute for resolving the real issues between you)....this may be helpful:
