good question, i'd like to hear ppls thoughts on that one, too!
Hi Lynne! Seems no one wants to tackle this question. lol

I think its a great question. I dont think anybody can betray an enemy. We have to be true friends in order to betray the other.

Ok!! I am glad someone caught the reference to Judas and Christ..

John 13 ;27.. After the sop slewfoot entered into him.. BOy could i preach a message on just that verse... the sop was a supposed sign of approval.. a lot of "charismatics' recieve experiences they think are "so right" and GOD loves me anyways BUT satan is behind it...

Mt 26;50.. friend betrayest thou the son of man with a kiss??

So you ask was Judas saved? No not in the nt sense cause that did not happen until after the cross.. Was his life before the betrayal godly?? No he was worldly interested in money, a prosperity teacher.. Some thoughts have him as a kingdom now person...

Why the kiss??? Because thomas looked like Christ according to tradition and was nicknamed the twin.. May we to look like him share his image..

JUDAS WAS THE LORD’S OWN FAMILIAR FRIEND Psalm 4:19
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
The Lord quoted this Psalm in John 1318 as being fulfilled through Judas, I know whom I have chosen but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.”
To eat bread with the King was an honor that was only given to those who were very close to him. I also believe that Psalm 55 is a prophesy about Judas.
JUDAS WAS NOT THE LORD’S ENEMY Psalm 55:12-14
12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him
13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. 14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

These two verese from the Old Testament that prophesied of Judas's betrayal proves that Judas was NOT an enemy but a TRUE friend of Jesus. It was NOT one that hated Jesus. I believe he was a close friend of Jesus until the greed took over, and then finally the devil entered him right before he betrayed Jesus.
We see now, that one can be saved, a very Godly, humble person then canslip away from the Lord. I think even today, we betray the Lord when we fall from him, when we disobey him, when we deny him. In fact the bible talks of traitors in the last days. To be a traitor means you had to have been a part of it to become a traitor or betrayer.
God Bless,
Joe
