Question for everyone?

Funny thing to me is how crazy people seem to have a better grasp on reallity than the majority. Doubt anyone will really even understand the question.
Well, we could look at this in different ways, sure. I've seen plenty of special needs kids who, for lack of a better phrase, see Christ in everyone. They are intuitively more perceptive than many of us. We could also say that other individuals, who while not being brain damaged have other disorders that render them 'crazy' (not the best descriptive word here as many are helped tremendously by counseling and medication) in relation to societal norms, could quite possibly be more sensitive to the unseen reality of the world that many of us are not. I do think that there's a spiritual world out there that some people tend to have more direct interactions with and which leaves many of them with disastrous results spiritually, as from a Christian perspective, anything without Christ is spiritually dangerous. Though, the easy denial with which most of us operate on a daily basis also render us 'normal' (or what passes for normal these days) folk spiritually ill as well, which is why all of us (the so-called crazy and normal people) have that ultimate hospital to turn to, the Church, with the ultimate Great Physician, Jesus Christ at its head.

I could always quote Renee Descartes (cogito ergo sum), in that we can trust that we exist.

But it is true that beyond that this basic epistemological question, of what is real cannot be answered. How do I know that anything I experience is real? I could just be a brain in a vat and a demon is controlling all my thoughts as Descartes suggested. However, this really only leads to nihilistic meaninglessness.

If you approach the question from an ontological perspective, you indeed have to make assumptions as to whether he are here by accident or on purpose, and I find it reasonable, as Descartes did to find that we exist by purpose.

Does that give you something to chew on?

This thread is closed.
The question has nothing to do with trying to understand Christianity, as per the requirements of this sub-forum's Sticky ...
