I will for you.

Christianity is what the name means. Jesus was the Christ, which means chosen one. So Christians are the people of the chosen one.

Christians are people who stand strong untill the end, who have faith and love for Jesus, who believes everything he said. We all have doubts because of Satan, but Christians will always remove that doubt.

Christians believe that the Rapture WILL occur, that Jesus loves us, and most of all, we have faith in Him and love Him.

Christianity is the religion (or set of religions) that encourages adherence to the teachings of Jesus Christ. But since Christianity branches into many different categories, you must remember that the idea of "Christianity" is different from Christian to Christian.

Fundamentalist Christianity, which BornAgainChristian is part of, requires adherence to the "five fundamentals," characteristically a literal interpretation of the Bible.

Liberal Christianity holds that some of the Bible is merely myth or metaphor and not to be taken literally.

Catholic Christianity requires observance within the structure of the catholic church, built in a hierarchy of priests, bishops, cardinals, the Pope, and God. The meaning of the Bible is given through the church.

There are also a number of Chrstian "cults" including Mormonism and Jehovah's Witnesses who have exclusive brands of Christianity.

The thing that all Christians have in common is a belief in and an adherence to the figure of Jesus Christ as portrayed in the New Testament.

The underlying message of the Christian religion as a whole is that eternal life in heaven and salvation from hell is brought by adherence to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

It varies from church to church what the specific requirements are--be it a plea for forgiveness of sin, belief (faith) in Jesus, service to Jesus and the world, a moral life, or baptism.

Here it is, as plainly as I can summarize it:

In the beginning God made man (humans). But then man sinned (disobeying God). Because of sin, we cannot be in the presence of God because we are unclean (bad, contaminated, evil, etc.) Heaven is being in the presence of God, Hell is the exact opposite (not being in His presence at all) The wages (punishment) for sin is death. Because God is a just god, someone must pay the price. Instead of us paying the price, God came to earth in the form of Jesus Christ and died on the cross to pay for our sins. This is because God loves us. So now that he died for us, whoever accepts Christ as their Lord and Savior, they will have eternal life with him in Heaven.

Hope that is clear and not too incoherent.

God Bless,
Ceris

Instead of reading all the bibles and going to all the sermons, I just want to know what the basic underlying message of the whole thing really is.

So if someone could just sum it up for me, in just a few sentences or so, that would be nice. :holy:
John 3::16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Whosoever means who-so-ever, that's the king James version. The NIV says He gave his one and only son, which can be confusing because other people are referred to as sons of God in the old testament, the angels are referred to as the sons of God in Genesis, but Jesus is the only begotten son of God. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

True. There is a lot of different forms of Christianity.

Some Christians are called cults. This is what confuses many. They differ from what the Bible teaches, which therefore makes them a cult. They tell everyone else to do this, and when they find that the Bible says oposite, they give up on Christianity.

It's these cults that's brought to mind what you're thinking. Christians are like-minded, they believe the truth which is found in the Bible. The cults, who call themself's Christians, teach different and teach lies from Satan.

Roman Catholic, Baptist, and every other form of Christianity believe the same, it's just that the church is set up differently. Baptists believe that God wants us to get baptised, baptists are people who were baptised. Roman Caltholics are people who loko at the teachings and ways of Christians in Rome, and other religons similar all sum up Christianity. The churches are just set up different, but they teach the same.

You see what I mean now?

My dear friend...this is how I see it:
We are called to accept the free gift of Christ dying on the cross and to love like nobody's business. We are to be loved and love others like this world hardly ever sees. Love is the key in this all...it's why Jesus came to this earth and it's why I am a child of God and it's why you want to know about it. PM me if you so need or want to question anything I've said. God bless...peace be with you.

Funny how all the Christians except one, (LAWise520) got it wrong.

The underlying message is "Do Unto Other as You would Have Them Do Unto You" or more simply "Love Thy Neighbor"

Plain and simple
That is perhaps one underlying message, but I still think the predominant underlying message must have something to do with God, or Jesus, or salvation, or at least something that uniquely characterizes Christianity.

If you're saying that by doing this we are saved, then my friend, you are wrong.

Now, I'm not trying to start fights, so please don't think that.

But, isn't all of the Bible is about God and Christ? How we can be saved? We are saved by grace, not by loving thy neighbor.

Loving thy neighbor is strong, all Christians should follow it. But, this is not what saves us from sin.

The Bible's message is this:

Have Faith in Christ, love him, believe that he died on the cross, and you shall be saved.

Now, if that wasn't what you were saying, please forgive me.
