  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Can some one explain to me?

This morning as I was going thro the word of God, in the book Of Isaiah chapter

41:19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]tah tree, and the
myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the
pine, and the box tree together:

The verse talks about "Seven trees"

What does it symbolically and spiritual speaks ?

Kindly share it will be very useful to me.

Thanking you.

Interesting question

Let's have some of the context, though:

Isaiah 41 (NIV)
17 The poor and needy search for water,
but there is none;
their tongues are parched with thirst.
But I the LORD will answer them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

18 I will make rivers flow on barren heights,
and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water,
and the parched ground into springs.

19 I will put in the desert
the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive.

I will set pines in the wasteland,
the fir and the cypress together,

20 so that people may see and know,
may consider and understand,
that the hand of the LORD has done this,
that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

Clearly, these verses tell about how God will make the wilderness/desert into a fertile area. This may be either meant literally or metaphorically - the pools of water being the Holy Spirit.

As for v. 19, it employs the parallellism typical of Semitic poetry. The desert and the wasteland are parallels, cedar and acacia are parallel to myrtle and olive.

That the trees add up to seven may well be intentional - seven being a sacred number. But apart from that, it may not mean anything specificm such as exactly seven communities or something, though that is possible as well. Possibly it's a reference to Creation Week, a tree for each day; because it will prove the creative powers of God.

best regards

Thank you for sharing.I need to more about each tree compared with human beings character.

You may be interested to know that there is more than the mere number seven involved. It is a direct connection to the Seven Minorah (Candlesticks) which are in fact symbols of the Seven Spirits of the Lord surrounding the Holiest of Holies.

There is a lot of ancient Israelite lore concerning these Seven Spirits, often equated with the Seven Archangels, of which we know the names of three from the Holy Scriptures. There are other lists from before the time of Jesus listing the names of others. Angelology was a popular subject, especially in Egypt, but also esoteric and related to the Kabbalah, secret 'oral' traditions (which were nonetheless written down frequently).

If you are looking for 'human' traits for the Seven Spirits, I would note that they are connected directly to the Seven Foundation Churchs described in the book of Revelation.

The churches described there, which were historically real, and their problems and 'type' are often also interpreted as seven 'types' of church, meant allegorically to warn local congregations in future times.

Another interpretation is that these Seven represent seven 'Ages' or dispensations of the 'Universal Church'.

Once you know the place to look (Revelation commentaries), you should find lots of info to suppliment your study of the Seven Trees, which obviously are apt descriptions also of the Seven Foundational Churches and their overseeing Archangels.

Not so hasty, Nazaroo - the seven archangels are actually from Zoroastrianism, though it's uncertain whether the sacredness of the number seven was entirely adopted from there or already existing.

Since the medieval times. Spanish Jews collected the remains of their traditions and tried to revitalize them. It spread from there beginning in 1490, where 80,000 Jews were expelled from Spain.

As with all traditions, however, great care should be taken regarding the reliability and age of the tradition.

My thought as well, though how do you connect this to the wasteland/desert thing?

Hmmm, and what makes you certain of this?
