Howdy, I've been having a 'debate' with some people lately on whether or not a serial killer can go to heaven.

My argument is... A serial killer sets out to deliberately and methodically end the live's of his victims for his pleasure. They are cold and calculated. Therefore, he cannot repent, and ever truly be sorry for what he did. Therefore cannot gain access to heaven.

So it's on, can they go to heaven? if Hitler repented for killing 8 million plus could he be in heaven? I don't think so, but I want to know your oppinions, and why.

We look at some peoples sin and say, that's over the line no forgiveness for them.Just because we can't forgive doesn't mean God can't.When a person says they repent,God knows the truth of the matter. If anyone truly repents, they can be saved. This is the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I'm thankful for it.I'm not a mass murderer or serial killer, but I would never deny anyone their salvation, even if they were.In God's eye the thought is the same as the deed.If I wish hell on another I wish it on myself.

I don't know what's in the heart of a serial killer or rapist-murderer, but IF he repents, God's grace is sufficient to save him. Now whether he is capable of remorse or repentance, that I cannot argue.

I'll make it easy, they can't, and even if they could, who would want to go to heaven with a sick serial killer...

BTW your forum is hard to navigate.
LOL! Well we will be in heaven with people who have lied, cheated, stolen, backstabbed, and I am almost sure there will be one or two murderers and rapists too.

I have little doubt that even the most depraved of serial killers is not beyond the reach of God's grace, if they repent then I would think it is possible for them to be saved.

If God can take a man who set out to destroy the Church such as St Paul and turn him into one of the early Church's most important figures and greatest saints then I would think that we should realise that nothing is beyond the grace of God.

I feel that there's a flaw in the original logic in the question. For me, that flaw is in the idea that a serial killer or rapist would be incapable of repentance. This seems to say that just because they did bad, heinous things, then they no longer have free will. And if free will is revocable, then there is really no hope for any of us.

Long story short, if they repent, salvation is possible. To say otherwise is to doubt God's amazing grace. If grace is doubted, then the whole question becomes moot from the start.

I, too, believe in a thing called justice, JustJack!, but if it is not a justice tempered with mercy, then it is a justice not befitting the revealed God of the Bible.

Would you like to be on the receiving end of that type of justice, yourself. Think about this, for example. Biblically, no one sin is better or worse than another in God's eyes. So if God were hung up on justice, rather than mercy, if you ever uttered an obscenity, or even thought about making love outside of marriage, you'd be in danger of that merciless justice. As Matthew 7:1-2 indicates, if we make judgments, we will ourselves be judged by our own measuring stick.

Believe me when I tell you, brother, there is no intention on my part to flame on you in this post, by any means. I'm just giving you some food for thought.
