  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There is this couple that I know.

The husband is named Patrick and the wife is Samantha. Samantha is a tall lady.
If there was a girl's football league, she'd be in it. Patrick is average height and build.
He is a smart and funny man. She is stoic and the silent type. They have three grown
kids and their kids are my friends. I once talked to Patrick about choices and
sexual orientation (not long ago). I learned a lot from talking to those two. Patrick said that he
is bisexual and his wife is okay with it. I was shocked. They knew each other since high school. Patrick was 17 when he realized he was bisexual and wanted to commit suicide because he was a christian and didnt want to shame his family. Samantha was his friend at the time and she talked him out of suicide. They remained friends after that. She encouraged him to explore himself. Patrick actively explored his sexually with literally dozens of women and quite a few men.
One day, he came to Samantha after ending an affair with a woman AND a man ! She comforted him. They made love. They began to live together. Patrick saw in Samantha the person who completed him and made him feel whole in ways no man or woman ever had.
Samantha confessed to having loved Patrick since high school. They got married and had kids.

I find their story to be fascinating.

I am quite cynical in matters of love, politics and whatnot. But it makes me wonder. Can love conquer all ?

I think it is up to the person being told about the behaviour. If that person is strong enough to handle it, and will not bring it up against the person in the future as part of an argument, then by all means - love in that instance can.

If the person being told really does have legitimate reasons to be upset, and can't seem to get past it, and it nags on their conscience - then they should not be in a relationship with that person. The person who did those things probably feels REALLY bad about it anyway, and bringing it up again and again will just make that person feel worse and unworthy. So in that instance - the relationship should dissolve PRIOR to marriage.

I have heard a similar story, and I say WOW - I would pray I had the strength for this.

Funny - the thought that someone had multiple sexual partners of the OPPOSITE sex before becoming a christian and meeting me doesn't bother me one bit - the fact that it could be someone of the SAME sex - eesh, I'd need to pray a bit!!!

Of course, I'm assuming that regular STD tests have been taken by the party - and if I want them to, then I sure as heck better go too!! ;)
