  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have been divorced for 12 years from an adultarus man who was verbally, sexually and physically abusive to me.

I origionally made a gentlemans agreement with my Exhusband that I would give him 50% of the house when it sold and the children had left.

My Exh is not walking with God and has not completely kept up to his part of the agreement of maintenence payments and refurbishment ready for sale. He only paid about 1/4 of his part of the mortgage.

The agreement was written on the back of a piece of card and was witnessed by my two children.

Due to him not keeping his end of the bargain I am wondering if i should keep with my agreement of the 'contract' seeing as he hasn't.

I offered him £21000 which he rejected and he is taking me to court for 50% plus a share of my pension. which is practically worthless

I have no monney to hire a lawyer and i would appreciate your advice from a biblical stand point.

Thanks

Hello YONW

I would give the matter over to a court for adjudication [their decision]
Maybe you could 'detail' those shortcoming of your 'Exh'
in respect of missing maintenance/ mortgage payments

I am afraid that you will find that any man, is only as good as his word
which in your Exh's case, is a plainly obvious non-starter... This is 'life'
Where, any refurbishment [prior to sale] is gonna be 'down-to-you'

But, on a good day, you could recover, from your Exh's 'share'
your legitimate expenses and maybe also
the maintenance / mortgage arrears, that remain, still-outstanding
and also have him pick up the court costs for you, as he leaves the court
