5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord- Matthew 4
Putting such a question before God is also called tempting the Lord (Deuteronomy 6:16). We are not to come before God with silly stuff.
We're not really putting the question before God, though. We're merely musing on whether or not He could do such a thing.
The easy answer is yes: There is nothing God
can't do. However, there are many things God
won't do (breaking His promises is one of those things He will never do).
He
could change the rules of mathematics and how the entire universe works, but what kind of effects would that have on everything that exists, including us?
He does what He does for a reason: He knows the outcome of all things.
So, OP: Yes, God
could but yet He probably wouldn't as who knows what effects that would have on the universe as we know it. It's literally the same thing as making 2+2=5, to be honest. It's changing how math works, and I've heard a few scientists say that the universe was built on Math. We know that DNA is a digital data structure, and anything
digital is built upon math. All matter is built upon math: x number of electrons + y number of protons + z number of neutrons = 1 atom of an element. Add some, take some away, you get an entirely different element with entirely different properties.
You could, say, take Oxygen. It's got 8 Protons (and 8 Electrons) per Oxygen atom. This Oxygen is necessary for life to exist; we die without it.
Add one Proton and Electron (not sure about Neutrons, never looked it up) and you end up with a toxic gas that will kill you if you encounter it in its pure form.
Or, you could subtract one Proton/Electron and you end up with an inert gas that doesn't do much of anything, though if you can turn it into a liquid, you get a liquid that can generate intense cold (and explosive force if you mishandle it).
It can also kill you without warning if mis-handled as well, as it can suffocate you if you allow it to evaporate near you in an enclosed space.
That's what the power of adding or subtracting -1- can do in the world of atoms, which makes up everything we see, hear, smell and touch.
