  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thank You Granny, for your wisdom and respect for how you witness.

I completely understand the reason for research in translation due to Accidental gaps occurring.

In the Bible gaps are minor and contextual intent allows for accuracy in paraphrasing the meaning.

I am glad to see a new member posting I am looking forward to your posts.

Do you think God caused you great mental pain, or the things you buried caused you great mental pain? And then this pain caused you to allow God to help you deal with all the things you buried?

Hi Thelma

I have read your post and I suppose, for the sake of love and fellowship, we will have to agree to disagree. Just your "understanding" (no pun intended) of Jeremiah 9 shows that you and I may never really come to an agreement of what God is saying there. Personally I believe that you are putting your personal spin on that but then you might accuse me of either the same thing or taking it too literally or verbatim.

Nonetheless, I do appreciate your contribution to this thread. Blessings to you dear.

Exactly. BTW, I used that passage that you are referring to in conjunction with this teaching this past Sunday.

you all did a fine job of answering the op. but i have a view i wonder whether or not you have ever considered.

Can Faith Principles Work without a True Understanding of God?

to my understanding faith is a universal concept. i can believe that ever fall i always get a cold and you know what every fall for some reason i end up with a cold. do i need to understand God in order to make this concept true? i can believe that if i see a doctor because of a medical condition that i will be fine afterwards. does this require me to have a true understanding of God to make this concept true too?

also faith is just like a positive attitude. it is proven that you take the concepts written in the bible and apply them to daily life that our lives can be improved. in order to read the bible do you need to believe in God? i know many people who do not believe in God but read the bible for the good stories, to help them debate the concepts of the bible, and ect.

as grannie2shoes stated earlier on defining what faith is i though was well done. but that meaning can be used more than one way. it all comes down to how you look at a thing that allows you to see a thing from different directions. this is how scientists work for example. christians need to be flexible too or they can miss a lot important stuff too. religious traditions start because people get too stuck in their ways without being flexible and trying to look at things from different perspectives.

God bless

I remember the enemy hitting me in the early days about God really being on my side or not. IF you believe He puts cancer on you, then He's not for you.

He does permit stuff just because the enemy is given some space depending on how you and those around you actually honor God or give place to the devil. But they say what the devil meant for bad, God has a plan for. So that's being for you.

Incidentally, it's hard to ask a question about faith here in WOF and say it's OK for non-WOF to teach because it's not permitted here. You can ask the question again in the Spirit Filled section. You'll get all kinds of answers. Some of them are good, but inevitably you'll find someone who thinks your cancer might be "thorn" you're permitted to endure to keep you humble.

It's hard to imagine Jesus ministering and having Him send someone away with cancer because it's their thorn. He preached Isaiah 61 and the people responded to the good news of the gospel of the kingdom. If you entertain doubts, then be careful not to let a stronghold develop and receive it.
