Although I'm certain this subject has been discussed, I always have wondered if cats and other animals can see the supernatural or spirits? Can cats see things that humans cannot see since they have different spectrum than humans' eyes. I have occurrences that cats would take notice of something that's not there, be it sound or visual. What do you think?

You know ive always wondered about this!

I sometimes think my sisters cat can see things as she sometimes stares at different places in the room and it seems as if she is watching something...she even follows it round the room with her eyes and sometimes dashes off as if chasing something?!!

We thought maybe it was just a fly at first but she does it alot even in the winter when there are no flys..and we have never seen a fly at the times she does it.

Ive experienced other strange acts like this with other cats ive known and im sure dogs can see things too.

Its an interesting thing to think about....i wonder if there is any info on the net ;)

From what I know and understand most animals do have a 6th sense. Perhaps it is just that they're more sensitive to certain things than humans are. Many animals, for instance, have been proven to know that a storm is coming before the humans around them even realized it. So, from my perspective, I believe that animals are generally sensitive and can see, hear and pick-up on things that we often cannot.

i don't necessarily think it has to do with the physiology of being able to actually SEE things that we can't, although that may have something to do with it. i think it has more to do with, like an earlier poster said, a type of "sixth sense" -- that they're able to sense things that we can't.

for instance, if you're afraid of a dog, even if you're not showing any physical signs of it that you're aware of, the dog will be able to pick up on, or sense, your fear. i think it's the same with the theory of them being able to sense alleged "spirits" and whatnot -- i think they can sense the energy, even if they aren't necessarily able to see them.

That is awesome you remembered a verse such as that. I had forgotten it. I really don't know what to think, because G-d can close our eyes. Such as in the end of the passage, he allowed Balaam's eyes to be opened. But, maybe this is something G-d never interferes with in animals, them seeing more than us.

An animals senses are so much greater than ours it is incomprehensible to us. We are talking about an animal such as a dog that can hear at least 600 times better than us. I don't think we can imagine anything like that. Or a cat being able to see in darkness. So maybe while G-d has allowed us to use reasoning, compassion, willful nature, He has allowed different areas of an animals brain to function than that of a human.

I don't think I could ever live without a dog or cat. They alert me to so much, that I wouldn't have been aware of before. Like Jake woke up in the middle of the night growling and low barking, and lo and behold there was a strange dog outside my bedroom window. And then there are the senses that alert them to earthquakes, tornadoes, and even an epileptic seizures. Ghosts, Spririts, demons, or whatever it is are in my opinion definitely noticed by animals. They disturb the area around them. No doubt they may cause some kind of noise or something. I kind of equate it to being able to "feel" a tv is on (when it is in mute). I can be near the room that has the tv and "know" it is on without seeing it. Anyone know what I mean? So I guess it is something like that with animals. But anywho, I think my cat does more looking than my dog. But as far as I know, she could be watching dust or lint floating. Not impossible since we can see it in the beams of sunlight.

I definitely think that they can do this! My cat looks at things that aren't there all the time! One time I was really tempted to do something bad and then , I felt the Holy Spirit take away the temptation. At the moment it happened, my cat looked behind me, as if maybe she could see the angel rebuking the spirit of temptation or something. I just thought it was weird and very interesting!

I personally don't believe in "ghosts" that haunt. I do believe animals can sense things most people cannot.

Here's a Bible section that describes what happened.

Let me know what you think!

ITA! There's definitely a spirit world of demons and angels all around us, and I thoroughly believe animals are much more sensitive to it all.

Blessings,

Welcome. I vaguely remembered the story in the Bible, but had to do a Bible verse search to find where exactly it was and refreshen my memory a little on the story.

I do believe that angels have actions they perform, whether God's angels, or the fallen ones.
There is also a Bible verse about us not battling against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places...
Ephesians 6:12
Can you just imagine what animals see if they can all sense this stuff?
Or maybe they are in a way like people, some animals have higher perception than others.
I've even heard a preacher talking about our angels protecting us from what we cannot see...
Anybody ever get that creepy feeling in them, or like somebody is watching them or like there's something evil in the air, or deja vu (and dreams that lead up to something before it happens), or had strange things happen? If pets only talked English now to tell us what they really do see and know.

When I was a teenager I had a brown Chauhua (named Brownie, go figure)
She would be asleep on the couch while we watched tv, and then jump up and bark at our bedroom, when no one was in there and no noise was heard.
She did it several times.
Sometimes her fur would stand on end while barking.
Very erie.

I must agree, VERY eerie indeed!

Lubiana~I know of a Christian woman, who has been seeing demons must of her life. She doesn't talk about it, but I get the impression, that it is horrifying to see them. She feels that she has been allowed this sight, so she can get rid of them in Jesus' name. Which is what she does. In fact her daughter sees them, and this year they believe the 3 yr old grandson saw one. But they can't be sure. Not something they wanted obviously. I'm thankful that I do not have to deal with them face to face like that!
