People have different beliefs because people read different things into the bible. Some say that you can. Others that rewards will be lost in eternity. Meaning that all the inheritance is given at the time of becoming a Christian but slowly with their decisions before or against Christ that those privileges are slowly burned away leaving only hay and stubble as rewards. Nakedness. Our coat of many colors that God is weaving for us to wear for eternity is of our own making.

People vow all sorts of silly things.

Matthew 5:36-37

If you can not make one hair on your head white or black, I doubt you can permanently lose eternal life by a vow. Let your yes be yes, let your no be no, and practice saying Yes to God.

If the person regrets the vow, and it was a hasty vow that was made without solemnity and proper forethought, I do not think it counts. However, it wouldn't be a light thing.

But I may be wrong: what about Christians who deny the faith under threat of martyrdom? But in your average day to day life - probably not. :)

Involuntary vows, on the other hand, such as in the case of intrusive thoughts, do not count at all.

Another angle might be that God has authority to overrule us >

"God resists the proud" (in James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5).

In our pride, we are constantly against God; but He keeps having hope for us. So, He resists us so we do not keep on in the wrong direction and get into much worse trouble.

Now > I consider :) > pride might have a person take such a senseless vow to lose one's salvation.

First issue about this possibility > if I have become changed by God to be His child, it is not likely that I still would have the ability to do what would be so rebellious and senseless.

But > may be I could, even so. Possibly, I a young Christian start reading the Bible and getting to know more mature Jesus people, and my pride is being exposed. So, in rebellion of pride, I possibly could vow to lose my salvation so I do not have to meet the requirements of getting over myself and living and loving as a child of God.

But this would mean I am missing out on finding out how to love; so how ever could this be desirable? Why would I want to even consider this? My attention belongs elsewhere!!!

And, by the way @Chang in our own pride we can not get ourselves to do all God desires. But God in us changes us > He is the One who succeeds in us :) But pride can have us supposing it is all on us; however, our Heavenly Father gives us His grace to succeed, plus we have our Jesus family people to help us. We all need each other, but pride is isolating and keeps us weak enough to keep giving in to selfish pleasure while also weak enough to keep suffering pain deeper than the helpless pleasures.

So, it is wise, instead, to actively seek our Father's real correction so we can find out how to love > Hebrews 12:4-11.

And it is wise not to think up other possibilities!!

My view based upon reading the Bible and praying while having Jesus as my friend for as long as I can remember and as my Savior for some years: NO. A born person can die, but that doen't make this person unborn again. A Christian is borned again and in the same way can't become unborn again. Also, a Christian never leave his Father "on a wow" - he had met something better! He can (and certainly will) FALL into sin, but He can never LIVE into sin. This is just against the new nature he got when being borned again, and just like a bird can't live in water or a fish in the air (but accidently stay there for a short while), a person borned again can't live in sin (but accidently stay there for a short while). Our Heavenly Father also supervise his loved children in a way TOTALLY different from the way he supervise those serving this world and this world's master. Like any good father our Heavenly Father don't allow his children grow like weed in a garden, and like any good father the LORD correct a child with such behavior. For sure he prune the branches in his garden with hard hand when needed for getting one of his children into HIS plans for that child - butnothing of this is equal to wipe them out of the family tree!

In my view, people asking a such question do that because they not are knowing their LORD and Heavenly Father yet and have like Job only heard some rumors about Him...

I would say, Chang, it depends on each person. God knows how each person really is.

But in case the person really admits to God, that he or she was wrong to make such a vow, I believe our Heavenly Father is willing to forgive the person.

And then, after God has had such mercy on the person, the person needs to also be generously merciful and forgiving :)

So, if you are willing to be a forgiving person, this can help, I think.

When I have been worried that I might have gotten away from God and have gone too far, I have offered myself to God who is our good Judge, and have trusted Him to know what He wants to do with me, Chang.

So, trust Him about this. He is much more kind and caring and loving and generous to forgive, than we can realize.

And, again . . . possibly the person had a stubborn reason to take a vow to lose one's salvation. The person might not want to deal with getting real correction. The person might not want to be required to follow God's example of being unconditionally loving and so generously forgiving. The person possibly does not want to admit he or she was stupid to fall for some stupid nonsense; and so he or she is just trying to get away from the whole thing which can expose how any of us can be stupid, at times.

And even if we have not taken a vow to lose our salvation, Chang, still at times ones of us have done wrong things which we could think would keep us from being saved. But Jesus did not give up on any of His disciples, and they could do some pretty anti-love things. So, I would say Jesus still wants you, but He expects you to love any and all people and become generously forgiving, yourself :)

Ephesians 1:12, 13 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

That is saying you hear the gospel (1 Cor 15:1-4 how that Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose again), you trust Christ, then you are sealed by the holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God , whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

If you have trusted that Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose again ... you trust Christ and not any of your works for the reason you're going to heaven, you have been sealed until the day of redemption by the holy Spirit. You can not lose eternal life if you've been sealed by the holy Spirit.

Can a Christian lost eternal life if that Christian vow to lost it?

if a worker does their job, won't their boss pay them even if they vowed to disallow the next salary?!, but if they don't do their job, will their boss pay them if he/she knows they don't do it, though they believe strongly that he/she will pay them anyway?!

Blessings
