I agree...we can not dabble and not be infected. We are to abstain from all appearances of evil.SLStrohkirch said:I think that as long as a person lives with the Holy Spirit in them it won't happen, however, because we are Saint and Sinner at the same time we have the ability of our own will to reject God. If we play with fire we will eventually get burned and so goes the same in the Spirit world. If we as Christians think that we can still dabble in things of this world and not be infected we can unknowingly invite evil into our lives.
Don't play with those things that can endanger our faith.

You're talking about "fruit", which is a far cry from possession.SLStrohkirch said:I think that as long as a person lives with the Holy Spirit in them it won't happen, however, because we are Saint and Sinner at the same time we have the ability of our own will to reject God. If the person has the Spirit, curses and demons mean nothing. A missionary once went to an Asian nation to evangelize with his family. The residents were pagans in the highest degree (placing spells on people, sending spirits to different families, controlling communities with such practices). The missionary evangelized, some high priests (i guess) of the religion got angry, but then several days later, they went to the man and asked about God and Jesus and were saved. What had happened was that the men asked their spirits to go and kill the man's family and they went back and say that they couldn't. Then the priests sent even stronger spirits and they came back, saying that the family was surrounded by fire which they could not pass through. Needless to say, curses and demons have no power over the Lord's people (sans His approval for growth).hugnluvable said:Thats a really interesting point you have there. But sometimes it isnt down to the individual playing with fire. It could be down to someone else causing spiritual hurt on someone. I have a friend who's Dad is from an African tribe, where she was cursed for a wrongdoing of her family. Tricky stuff that.....
when you receive the holy spirit...he stays...LLC3GUYS said:To clarify, can a Christian be possessed by any spirit other than the Holy Spirit? I see no way for Him to share with another. Do you? (It is implied that we are speaking of a true Christian)
That last part: One belonging to God cannot be subject to the devil. If you even believe in the bible then you have to agree. As for whether or not poseesion still occurs, I've heard too many testimonies and recordings of modern possessions to agree with you, Holly.Holly3278 said:Somehow I have serious doubts that possession can occur with anyone or if it even occurred in the past. It may have occurred in Biblical times or then again maybe some of them people had epilepsy or schizophrenia and the people of the time had no other way to describe it other than to say that they were possessed? I guess you could say possession is possible as I do believe in some form of spirit world but whether or not it actually happens or has happened, I do not know. As for possession of a Christian, once again, it's possible. However, I do tend to agree with those who say it can't happen because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Would the Holy Spirit share His space with an evil spirit? I seriously doubt that.
